Alright, after 3 days I finally have all the videos. 9GB of footage so far, and I know Tallon had some too.

I watched a couple that turned out decent. I'm gonna spruce it up with some disco-ball effects and house music. Shitz gunna b illl dawg.

Hmmm, not a big fan of dubstep. I do like some IDM, DnB, Glitch, Breakbeat, and downtempo.

Haven't narrowed-down a track yet - here's a few I was thinking about.

Melvins - Smiling Cobra
Russian Circles - Melee
Hive - Moves within Time (Parts 1, 2, & 3)
Dimmu Borgir - Puritania

I also learned that my video editing program doesn't play well with the GoPro footage, so I need to convert each of the files to .mov first. That will take another day or two

 

EDIT: If you want, we can toss the data on an external drive and I can have my beastly desktop do the conversion for you. i have a 64GB key in my pocket at the moment, stop by after work or let me know when you are taking lunch and I can hand you the key.

 

They're on my ext. HD at home, but I can grab that today before meeting you @ Brian's. I am converting them with SUPER, which is a kind of clunky interface, but straight-forward converter with a lot of options. I'm sure your Super-Desktop would make light work of it.

I was looking at free converters and I think I might try EyeFrame. It was developed by the Lightworks community, and that tool was used on production-level video, so I'm guessing it's gotta be some good stuff.

 

I'm guessing that might work, but it seems like it converts to a proprietary Lightworks proxy file. If it can convert .mp4 (GoPro's std. codec) to .mov with 60fps and loss-less ffmpeg compression in 16:9, then that'll work.

 

Ben, the gopro I took is only 30fps. So.. maybe have to convert with 30fps instead of a force 60.

 

Oh, I thought it was 60fps @ 1080p. That will make it convert a lot faster and save a ton of space. A 30-second GoPro clip was 500mb, converted it came out to 1.9 GB. I'll talk to Mike tonight and figure out the easiest way to do it, or we'll call David (mutilatedjak) and see if he wants to make another video

 

I just import it into Sony Vegas, once done use Bigasoft and bam done lol. Bigasoft doesn't take long.

 

Good to know. I am still a newb when it comes to video production stuff, and combine that with my ancient, under-powered laptop, and it can make for a time-consuming and frustrating experience. I am using Corel VSP X3 and SUPER, but it's worth looking into other converters.

I'll get it figured out and try to make a good 5-10 minute video. Lord knows there is enough footage to work with

 

IIRC, vegas is $350. If I'm going big time, I'm partial to Adobe.
Bigasoft is $30. through research, it sounds like Quicktime Pro does the best job of conversion and costs the same.

For the itty bitty bit that I do, I'm trying to keep with free. I tried Lightworks and that's way out of my knowledge range, though, so it's WMM for me.
