Because you have to own a Tacoma to talk about them.

There's almost 2 dozen Tacomas here at maxwell but I think the majority are officers in school here temporarily

Yup. Look around and you'll see them everywhere around here. I could easily count off at least 50 a day.

I am actually seriously looking now. I picked up a part time job that requires the use of a bed. So a DCSB O/R is what I am looking for

now that I said I am seriously looking, the thread dies! lol. I am actually thinking on going full size to utilize the bed space a little better!

Well I can tell you, fullsize pros are v8, towing, and mpg is pretty much the same, +/- 1-2mpg city.

Downside is a cc full-size costs much more than a Tacoma, and lots of them have major issues in the last decade or so to watch out for. You could probably get a decent extended.cab and stay in your budget, but a crew will cost too much or be very old probably.

Oh and forget wheeling it on any kind of tight trail, there's no way. I've seen an f150 like mine on a big easy trail in KY, it was tight.

I don't plan on wheeling it. I kinda figured the mileage would be the same. I mainly drive in the city, so I don't plan on losing anything there. When we go on trips, don't plan on gaining anything there either, except driving further on a tank of gas! lol. Then having to pay more to fill it back up!
EDIT: I am actually looking at a CC because of the space. One will pop up sooner or later. Got atleast two months to save up for a down payment.

You will maybe see the same highway. Plan to lose 2-4 mpg straight city, depending on the full-size. Most of the better mpg v8s are around 14 city 19 highway, worse are 13/18. Mostly city commuting, you will definitely see a diffference in your gas bill. I'd get a taco.

If you're thinking crew cab 4x4 second gen tundra, go ahead and open your wallet for purchase and gas bills. You could swing a first gen for 13 but then you may as well get a taco.

That looks sick! I love it. I am curious how it would look with the "TACOMA" part painted body color?

Oh, I'm not planning on a tundra. I'm looking at ford F-150. Maybe a Chevy 1500 with the 5.3l. Not the new body styles but the 04-07 body styles.

ou could probably find a Chevy 5.3 crew with 100-150k on it 04-06 in your budget, get like 14/18 city/highway. Only problems I found were the trans is a 4speed and something of a POS, and the transfer case has a fixable issue if you get 4wd. Also the rear seats are pretty weak for a full-size crew cab, closer to a taco or first gen tundra than real comfortable legroom for big adults for a long haul. Gas mileage would stomp a 5.4 though from what I understand and no spark plug change issue.

I have Gimp, which is essentially the same thing as Photoshop. I will see what I can come up with this evening.

OK, forgive the crappy photoshopping skills here, but this is CLOSE to what it would look like if you painted it to match the body color.

I'm not worried about legroom in the back because its where the kiddies sit. They are no where near adult size anyways! I just need the bed size of a full size. Lol
