And if something is not covered in the bible do you just take it as it is? Since questioning would lead others to believe you're not a true "believer"

    I already did.

What is really important is in all three of your Bibles. You obviously can't see that so there's absolutely nothing in there for you. You already have what you deserve as the consequences set into motion by your own actions, just as I do, and everyone else, too. While quibbling over useless nits the real point of the Bible goes right past you. And that point which went past you is in every Bible. I'll be happy to state the point since you obviously haven't a clue:

Moral accountability for your own actions.

Oh, certainly there was much verbal teaching about Jesus Christ... but there were not any New Testament "scriptures" at that time. Even what we call II Peter today back then was just a written letter. It took some time for the wisdom to shine through and then his writings would be venerated as scripture. This is sort of like how over time a souvenir becomes a valuable collector's item. :)

And on a similar note... The part at the end of Revelation about not adding or taking anything away from what was written did not refer to the whole Bible... because the Bible did not exist when John wrote those words. It only applied to what he had written about his own personal revelation.

This does not negate the truth of the Bible. It's just some interesting additional context. ;)

Your making a point that means something to you, nothing more, and you assume you know something about me. Your presumption that there is absolutely nothing in there for me is where you have no clue. You aren't expressing the points I get from the bible tough guy....

I'm talking about how the bible gets changed even though it is the word of god.

Useless nits, like removing 12 books.

Can you explain what is wrong with stating that everyone is morally accountable for the consequences of their own actions? It's perfectly fair. No one is exempt. Not me either and I clearly stated so. If there is only one theme that totally dominates Bible from the beginning right up to the very last words... it's everyone's moral accountability to God for our actions.

Yes... and that same point means nothing to you so we are agreed on that. The point is never agreement in chosen views, only that each person states their view and how it contrasts to the views of others... and this thread is an excellent example of contrasting views. :)

Obviously you aren't discussing the topic that men can and have decide after the fact which books are no longer or never were the real word of god. So how does you statements relate to that?

This was directed more at responders that take the bible as 100% word of god and irrefutable and 100% historically correct and nothing has been disproved.

Then you start making personal attacks.

Interesting link thanks for addressing my question.

But when I read " Some decisions and choices had to be made, and God guided groups of people to make correct choices (not without guidelines) and to collect the various writings into the canons of the Old and New Testaments." I'm back to doubting the process. I just believe men made choices.

Confrontational interviews, which are what I see in the trailer are not conducive to searching for details of what the most recent state of evolutionary science theorize. Pumping for gotcha sound bites reveals no real interest in understanding or explaining the evolutionary side.

My guess is the evolution side will be totally misrepresented.

How can you take it literally when a few posts ago you were equating the four horsemen of the apocalypse to world events? If you take it literally, then we should expect to see some sky-borne equestrian events.

That's right. We're both in agreement that I'm not discussing the topic. My comment is about those for whom the Bible has meaning and those for whom it does not. Your view on the topic that you're discussing with others provides a logical explanation of why the Bible has nothing to offer you.

This is a personal choice each of us freely makes as to what we regard as having meaning for our lives, and what we choose to regard as meaningless. Everyone freely chooses and each choice sets into motion its own consequences.

I watched this video with an open mind so maybe I would learn something. Only one of those scientist even compared creationism to evolution. The rest just beat around the bush like most college professors do. Maybe the video wasn't what I expected it to be, but thats what I took from it.

I guess it would depend on what you mean by "literally".

The bible has several different types or genre's. There are historical books that you take like you take any other historical book. There are poetic books that should be read as poetic literature. There are biographical books, prophetic books, apocalyptic books.

My point being genre is important. It is a part of what is needed to help understand it. But that is true of everything we read. When I read the sports page of the paper and read "Redsox crush the Yankees" I don't take it "literally" that the yankees are 'crushed'. It was a figure of speech used to convey an idea. That is lost by some christians I believe, unfortunately.

I personally don't think the book of Genesis was ever meant to be a science book. It is a book of beginnings. The beginning of the universe, The beginning of man and sin, The beginning of Gods plan to rescue man, The beginning of Jewish people from whom the savior would eventually come, etc. Every thing that finds it's beginnings in Genesis finds it's conclusion in Revelations.
