What words, phrases, and other stuff grinds your gears.

I don't think I've heard brathroom, and I hope I never do. Seems like its along the same lines as fridgerator.


I always notice and don't like when people say "a whole nother." Just say "another" or "a whole other."

 

Putting "just saying" or "just my 2 cents" at the end of a post does not excuse comments that are hurtful, racist or stupid.

The word is often, not off-ten.

Of course I work here! That's why I'm a middle aged man wearing this stupid looking vest that has MAY I HELP YOU? on the back!

 

I pronounce it of-ten. The T is not silent, it is not pronounced offen.

 

He's from the center of the universe (Ontario)

 

Or how about when people say "more better?" My best friend says that. He'll say "Much more better!" I'll say it sometimes to mock him.

 

Maybe in Canadian it's pronounced off-ten, in English it is pronounced of-en.

"Hood language" and it's every expanding use of slang, phrases that don't make sense, and made up words.
Like:
I'm dead ass
Swag
Turn up
Using "tho" after stuff
And the hundreds of other stupid sayings that I fail to remember.

 

I'd say that's stab-worthy. At least he doesn't just say betterer. Does he say "funner?"

 

He does say "funner." He says a lot of things incorrectly. I told him that Uncle Si from Duck Dynasty must have taught him English.

And along the same lines, those who attempt to belittle your problems with "First world problems"

Of course it's a fucking first world problem. It's not a survival issue, but that doesn't make it any less important.
If you think we should feel guilty because we live in a first world that we've worked our asses off to build, feel free to go live in a mud hut somewhere.

Wazzup, air-bedz, when you/companies put a z in things to be more hip or cool.

 

I used to do that when I was like 7, just to be cool. Now it bugs the crap out of me to see people spell like that!
