Why aren't there any Tacoma commercials?

    You are comparing apples and oranges. F150 and Silverado are not competitors to the Tacoma. I don't see many commercials for Ranger, Frontier, Colorado or Dakota which would be the Tacomas competitors

    I realize F150 & Silverado aren't competition for the Tacoma, that's not what I'm saying. The point I am trying to make is the F150 & Silverado don't technically need commercials because they are already great sellers in their segment, as is the Tacoma(in its segment).People will buy an F150 or a Silverado regardless of commercials, just as people will buy Tacoma's regardless of commercials, but Ford & Chevy still make commercials for them. The reason you don't see commercials for the Ranger, Dakota & Colorado, is because they are not being made anymore. I realize those would have been the Tacoma's competitors, that's why in one of my previous posts I said, maybe Toyota will make Tacoma commercials again once Chevy introduces the new Colorado and there is more competition in the small/mid size truck category with the Colorado Frontier and Tacoma.

    Yeah it's all about competition. The full size market is led by Ford, but GM and Dodge are always pushing so you see commercials for all three. That's also why you see Tundra commercials, because they want a bigger slice of that market. In a time where the construction industry is rebounding and full size sales are growing, the three major brands need to continue jockeying for sales. Ford can't let up at the risk of losing sales.

    On the other hand, the Tacoma dominates the midsize market. They sell gangbusters and their only real competitor is Nissan and the Fronty is far behind in sales. And I don't see many Nissan commercials either; they have likely conceded the market to the Taco and are OK with second, instead focusing on sedans. Ads would just be a waste of money until the Fontier increases in sales and/or new competition is introduced.

    I think they ran that into the 2000s until the "We make it easy" took over the "Oh, What a feeling" slogan.

    I just remember watching the CBS news and Trisha Toyota thinking "Get your hands on a Toyota and you'll never let go"

    many of the F-150 & Silverado commercials are an effort to sell the financing not the vehicle. Notice those commercials almost always have reference to the rebates or interest rates/term or lease deals.

    A man I've know for years owns a dealership. He told me, in the big picture he's not selling cars...he's selling financing.

    I think its because Toyota's bread and butter are the Camry, Corolla, and Prius. Why waste money advertising for a product that only appeals to a niche audience, such as the Tacoma? The same line of thinking goes for the Detroit three, full size trucks are their main sellers so they advertise them more heavily.

    You don't think the Tacoma is part of Toyota' s bread and butter? I agree the Camry Corolla and Prius are a bigger part, but the Tacoma has to be up their too, no?
