Hello. I read over some of the other posts about how to diagnose this and need a little help on what to do next.

Push in Diff Lock button. Abs light comes on. Deselect it goes off like normal.
Put the truck in reverse and drive, ABS light stays off.
Put the truck in drive and pretty much within a few feet it comes on.

So looking here i jumped DLC Terms 13 and 4 and the ABS light threw a code 33 and 34. (Left and Right rear wheel speed sensor malfunction)

Just seems odd to me that BOTH rear wheels have the same exact issue at the same time. I do have a boat and put it in the water etc. Guessing somehow the sensors are messed up? Ive never removed them and surely they can get wet.

Seems to me that it COULD be something common to BOTH rear wheels. Anyone have an idea??? I see in the FSM it lists a skid control ECU as common to both. No idea what or where that is.

Anyone have an idea on where I can proceed or look at next? I got this far. ABS definitely doesn't work. Wet road and the rears lock up on too much brake pressure if not careful

    Thanks

The ABS controller is the box on the passenger firewall. I would clean the rear sensor connections w/electrical parts cleaner and water proof w/die electric grease. Then pull the sensors and check the magnets for debris on the tip.

Thanks Taco. I did pull off the main connector on the passenger side. Its one large connector. Its was tight and did not appear dirty at all. I didnt figure that would be it since it was a single connector for everything. Unless I was messing with the wrong thing.

I will pull out the ABS sensors and check them.

On the di-electric grease. Never used that and will have to get some. Is that rubbed over the whole connector where the female side is. I mean its ok to get the di electrc grease in the small connector holes?

Yep, that's what it's for. Proofs the electrical connectors from water/dust/crap and keeps the voltage from leaking anywhere it's not supposed to.

Ok thanks. I'll get some today and give both those a try.

What is the other thing lists in the FSM? The skid control ecu. Is that just another term for the abs computer itself? The thing where I'll be putting the di-electric grease?

Once I do this does the ABS autoclear the code if fixed like the engine light or do I need to do the reset procedure

Check the connections at each wheel, not so much the the main conn. sorry was a little confusing there. There is a plug at each wheel. And yes the light should go out on its own if the problem is fixed, but you can try a series of pumping the brakes 8 quick times to clear it to clear it.

Steve, hey. Well I climbed under there last weekend and pulled out the ABS sensors. Both looked perfect. Nothing on them. Anyhow put some di-electric on the connectors etc. Still no luck

Got back under there looking and lo and behold the ABS wires were sitting on the inside of the U clamp for the springs. Apparently two of the bolts were a little loose and the wires (both sides) slipped in between the Ubolt and the spring and was getting pinched.

I loosened the u bolts enough, pulled the abs wire and plug back through so they'd be on the outside of the u bolt and just rolled the wire in my fingers where it got pinched. Haven't had an issue since.
