Oil filter question

    I'm changing my own oil for the first time. 2008 v6. The dealer sold me the wrong filter. They gave me a
    $54 90915-YZZD1 Oil Filter 1 Case (QTY 10)
    90915-YZZD1. It appears the same as the correct one that is in there, but it is shorter. So, the dealer is closed today (of course). What's my best second option for a filter (I've already drained the oil and need one today. Also, should I change to the OEM filter once I can get the correct filter?

    3 inch lift by dealer at purchase
    If it fits use it. If it screws on and does not leak your engine is not going to be damaged just because it is shorter.

    Front lift, ride rite air bags, side steps, rear camera switch.
    Like said above, get a mobil1 and return the other one. If they can only exchange, then exchange it for the bigger one and use on your next oil change. i have used mobil1 oil filter and mobil 1 synthetic oil once a year in all of my vehicles, and they have all stayed super clean inside. Every time I trade one of our vehicles (when the misses gets tired of the one she currently has), the dealership mechanics always get startled at how clean and taken care off the engines are inside and outside.:)

    I had a leftover filter from my 4 cyl - dealer said it would work fine on my V6. It's just a little shorter.

    I take it you are using oil filters purchased at the Toyota dealership. Why not just use a Wix or NAPA Gold filter. Wix filters are the best on the planet and NAPA Gold are just Wix filters with a NAPA label on them. I suspect Toyota doesn't make there own filters so who knows what brand you are getting. Could be a Fram or worse.

    Some guys run it on the 4 cylinder, and sometimes at longer intervals because it's larger.

    That's why I run it- I read that before and thought it would be nice to have the larger filter for the over kill factor. My local dealer must of either gave me the wrong filter or justs stocks one for all?
