Do I need to modify my stock exhaust system for this HC bumper?

You could keep it stock but it will look goofy and make the "H/C" part of your bumper semi-irrelevant. Just cut it at the turn down after the axle. I don't have a H/C yet, but this is where I cut.

Can the swing out be removed temporarily for the times I need to carry material with the gate down?

Thanks. Now I don't have a reason to not buy one.

I finally got one ordered yesterday. HC with tire swing-out and hidden hitch. Thanks to Tyler for making sure the configuration is what I wanted.

Cool! I think I am going to be priming my stuff with POR-15 from now on. The stuff seems pretty legit.

I have not used POR-15, but have heard nothing but high praise about it. One thing for certain is that preparation before even the primer is CRITICAL. Get all the protective oils and any scale and rust off the metal before you prime. I like the Eastwood Exterme Chassis Black and their specific primer for it, but even Rustoleum holds up well if the prep work is immaculate.

My process is: I clean with Super Clean or Purple Power twice making sure to use clean towels, then wash with hot soapy water, blow it dry to make sure there is no water left.

If any welds need a bit of grinding or filing now is the time to clean them up (not before the oils are removed as grinding drives the oils into the steel).

Finally wipe down the whole project with a clean rag moistened with PRE (or acetone) until it comes off clean right before the primer goes on.

Good prep work allows the paint to last a long time. You can touch up a sag or a run, but peeling pain because the prep work was skimped on means it needs to all be blasted off and start over. Of course you could take the easy route and have it powder coated.... (But it will cost more and you will still have to rattle can it when you get scrapes,,,)

Good advice right there. When I get a rear bumper I am definitely coating it with the Por-15 and then going to have it sprayed with Line-x. Obviously that is the pricey way of doing it, but will keep my truck in the long run looking better.

I PM'd Tyler a few days ago and it is pretty much on track for the six weeks date he quoted when I ordered it, or about two more weeks from now.

So yeah, the HC Bumper is on schedule so far.

Sounds like you're going to make the install a breeeeze! Even with 2 people the install was pretty tough for me. Trying to balance that shit on blocks of wood, on top of a jack while guiding it in.....not fun. But well worth it! :)

I did the install without the swingout on. It's just extra weight yI didn't want to be moving around.

Tyler, I'm pretty sure I have asked you this before but I just searched for about 10 minutes in my history and can't find it.

What is the approximate shipping cost for a H/C rear with swingout to 20152? You either said $150 or $200 but I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure it's 150. Fastenal doesn't gripe too much if its a little heavier, front is 150 so that should cover it.

Just thought I would share my new bumper, Its the no gate hi clearance, I am very happy with it, its solid as heck! Have not towed with it yet but I know it wont be an issue. I did however use it to pull some dead trees attached to the recovery points when I was clearing out some of my property. ;)
