Really? Seriously? It's precisely deist. Nowhere does it say "Jesus" or "god of Abraham". They could be talking about Thor, Ra, Vishnu, Epona, etc. for all you know. But I'm sure someone must have chimed in that Creationism and Evolution don't dispute one another.

Often evolution is confused for abiogenesis.

 

That has been covered, and obviously many people of faith, certainly catholics do not believe in a young earth and fully embrace evolution.

Evolution does conflict with creationists that believe the earth is 6000 years old.

But we couldn't have abiogenesis without the bible.

 

I was raised Christian. Irish Catholic to be exact. Did the whole private school thing, altar boy service (sorry to disappoint you all, but no priest buttsecks). I was very faithful.

However, I woke up before I drank too much of the Kool-Aid.

Evolution is for me. My analytical mind just can't accept any sort of blind faith without evidence. The bible is a great book of stories, life's lessons, and good morals. But so are Goosebumps novels but it doesn't mean I'm going to think that they are real.

The god excuse is too much of a cop-out for creationists. If I even attempt to debate real science with a creationist, they always have some clever excuse of how their god is so all-powerful that it could accomplish anything even beyond science. For example, I start to discuss the age of fossils and how evidence shows that carbon decomposition testing shows that some fossils are millions of years old. The creationist response is "the testing must be flawed, or God manipulated those carbon molecules to appear like they are degraded". It's an argument that never ends.

Just because something is clever, people, doesn't mean that it's true.
