maybe most departments do, but it does seem like a lot of departments don't deal with this.

kayla works at centennial animal control and works with the sheriffs department a lot. they don't deal with animals, they call them up. most of them don't want to or have training to deal with animals properly.

honestly all it takes is a taze gun among the group and you have the dog handled safely.

unfortunately incidents like this are becoming more public and scrutinized. not a common thing to deal with but unfortunately becoming something that needs to be addressed i'm sure.

i don't know what the training involves for officers, nor will i ever. i learn off hear-say.

Would you be willing to let a K-9 attack you while you try to taze it?

You didn't answer the question. Assuming a perfect shot, your odds are good the dog will stop the attack. But that wasn't the question I asked you.

A tazer has two prongs on thin wire leads that shoot out at angles...at an approximate distance of 10-12 feet, the spread of these prongs on a human being is about top right shoulder, middle to lower portion of the back. (where they hit me)

Your chances of hitting a boxer to rottweiler sized animal at 10-12 ft with those two prongs for full current effect are slim sir.

    EDIT:

That dog in that video was a lot closer.

would i rather face a dog with a taser rather than fire a gun at a moving dog? yes

would i willingly put myself in front of an attacking k-9 to prove a point that you can put down a dog with a taser without killing it? yes

do i think the officer acted inhumanely toward the dog? yes

do i think she was wrong? no

In other news...my agency just issued a numbered a memo stating that all deputy's are required to take no action to enforce the recent house bills, as both bills are considered unconstitutional and unenforceable.

kayla who is an animal control officer who deals with aggressive dogs daily does not have a taser gun. she has a handheld taser. you don't need a taser gun to take down a dog.

she has handled numerous aggressive dogs that are the size of her without the use of the taser.
