What do forum members consider must have tools for your tacoma? Trying to buy extra wrenches to have and considering what the most useful/bare minimum tools are so I can save space.
Let me know what you got!

You might want to clarify what type of traveling you're considering. For me, I carry basic tools (tire plugs, 12v compressor, duct tape, WD40, zip ties, rope, a tow chain, tire iron, jack, ratchets, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, torx bits and allen bits) but 99.9% of my driving is on populated roads. If something major happens, I'm calling a tow truck. If you're on a multi-day expedition, miles from anything resembling a city and would have to make any repairs necessary to get you back to civilization, that changes everything. Your tool kit would might not necessarily be any more extensive than mine, but you should know how to swap out parts and carry spare parts with you.

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
thats my problem. i could carry all sorts of tools but without parts whats the point.

I agree. I carry the tools I'd need to repair something if it just loosened up basically. If something really broke, I might be able to jerry-rig something to an extent but that sometimes comes at the risk of causing more damage. If you're on a trail and it's jerry rig or hike 50 miles out, then you do what you need to do!

Along with some of the aforementioned tools, I like to carry a voltage meter, a little extra wire, box of fuses, crimpers and connectors. Never know when you are gonna need to do some emergency electrical work.

    I would say at least 8/10/13/15mm, for American 3/8, 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, 5/8 just for wrench sizes.

I carry jumper cables, portable compressor, Vise Grips, wire cutters, 2 screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips)..if I added more it would be the above sizes in wrench and ratchet.

Credit card and a cell phone is about all I carry. Maybe some duct tape, but that's really more to tape the mouths of my victims.

Didn't even think about those as part of my tool kit! I have a bunch of spare fuses (at least 2 of every size and amp rating), a small spool of wire, a roll of electrical tape and some crimp on connectors sitting in my center storage bin. No volt meter, that would be good to have though.

I guess if I'm talking everything, I do keep a military shovel, hatchet, jumper cables, an emergency blanket, hat, gloves and flashlight in the truck also.

If that's the case, you should stick to cash. Don't want to leave a paper trail by using your credit cards...

    Good stuff,
I had a fiasco last week which required some creativity (and luckily I had extra lug nuts by chance) and I was thinking how glad I was to have the tools. I live in a rural area, I lack the funds for towing and prefer to have tools on hands for basic applications for when I am in the woods camping or On the trails. I have jumper cables, tow strap, and some basic metric wrenches, a lot of zip ties, multi tool, etc just was not sure if I was missing the basic sizes for the truck. I get that parts are important, but a lot of times things loosen up as well

when I go out, I make sure to have my hi-lift, shovel, straps, and rope. I carry zero tools in this truck because, as someone stated above, I don't have any replacement parts to carry.

I carried almost every tool required to disassemble my 92, mostly because I was always tinkering with it at home and was afraid I would go out and realize I forgot to tighten something.

I guess having tools to remove a broken front axle would be good to have, but even that is a bit to carry. and driving home without a front axle would be hell on the un-lubed front diff. I would leave it on the trail and come back with the proper tools and axle
