Definitely. The constitution has the same requirements for secession of part of a state from a state as it does for parts of two states except that the consent of the legislatures of both states would be required in the later case.

It's all very interesting at any rate, and it seems like the state of Jefferson might have stood a chance of happening were it not for Pearl Harbor.

I just feel it could of had another outcome, and yes I agree with the last part. And as dumb as it sounds I would rather fight off a dog because I for sure wouldnt out run it. And like gramps said sometimes you can literally yell at a dog and itll back off, and yes every situation is different and you cant prepare for every possible scenario. I really want to see the outcome of this.

If you're able to yell at a dog and get it to back down then it wasn't in the red zone and wasn't a threat to begin with. You get a dog that is in that red zone though and no amount of yelling or kicking them will break their primal urge to attack.

This we can agree on. Nobody wants to see this. Focusing on the shooter who is merely reacting to the situation presented to him is a waste of energy though. We need to focus on the dog owner and owners everywhere to raise awareness so that this sort of thing stops happening. Prevention is where the focus needs to be because once we're in these situations that dog is likely already dead be it from a bullet or being put down for attacking. People need to leash and control their dogs for the dog's safety.

this was my thinking in all this conversation, because if the officer didnt use deadly force and your dog attacked the officer its going to end up being put down anyways because it got aggressive towards the officer correct?

Then the question is raised that if your dog attacks someone that is attacking you would the outcome be the same? that is if the dog is in your control and leashed by you. The dog in the video was trying to protect its master from harm, it just so happened that it was officers and the owner was in hand cuffs so he couldnt control his dog in the first place. Then thats where the owner was just stupid and should have controlled his dog in the beginning and not left the windows all the way down in the car!!!!

ok lets say your being arrested, your dog is in your car/truck and sees it like your in danger and jumps out. what could you do? Once the owner is hand cuffed and being held what can the owner do? you can only hope the dog listens to its owner to stay back. Your right dogs naturally will bite but also they are loyal and will die trying to defend there owners if they feel the need to do so. Even if they dont understand the situation (being arrested)

Whole lot of 'what ifs' there. Why would I be being arrested and my dog not secured in my vehicle? Why am I getting arrested? Is it a situation I could have avoided to begin with? Probably.

You're right, dogs ARE loyal and ARE willing to give their life protecting their owner so why would you ever betray that trust by putting them in a position where they would make that decision? Trust is a two-way street and I think that's why I have such a hard time with idiots who would betray that dog's trust and NOT use their common sense to keep them from ever being put into that position.

I'm serious. As hyper as my dogs are an jump around they will sit when I say sit. But yet I can't get them to stop jumping on me when I come in the house... Unless I say sit... But that's no fun with a lab and a pointer so I cave in and wrestle haha.

Haha yeah they do that. But if you would have told them sit they will sit. Until you move then my pointer goes nuts again. :D. And the fact I wrestle with them when I come home does not help. :)

lol ok, ill keep that in mind

    random question
after my dog cut his foot on the metal grass edging and was what you could in bed getting better (foot healing) he calmed down alot. He was really hyper before, also became a tiny bit more friendly towards strangers. Could being in bed for about three weeks have calmed he down?

    not necessarily..

depending on the breed, the dog will be put in a shelter as long as it has not attacked anyone.

if the dog is acting aggressive, it'll be taken in and (depending on the breed) will go through a series of tests to see if it is fit to be relocated. if it is a pitbull, forgetaboutit. if it's not and fails the tests, it will be deemed potentially dangerous and will have a tough time to make it any further. if it passes the tests, it will be released for relocation.

at least that's my understanding from kayla's few years in the field

You also say that as long as the dog didn't attack anyone but that's exactly what we're talking about here. At least I think we're still all talking about the same thing here. When I said that the dog was already dead I was talking about had it attacked regardless of if the officer had shot him or not. If the dog had attacked the officer odds are good that the dog would have been put down had it not been shot.

This differs everywhere though and in most places, he would be put down. Some places it takes two strikes, some three and then some are much more lenient like you're describing but most are much more strict against dogs that bite/attack humans. So, depending on where this took place it's not 100% a given but the odds aren't in the dog's favor. So, I'm sure that's accurate where she works they just happen to be on the more lenient side of that equation.

Know how the dog could still be here either way? If he hadn't been unlucky enough to have been adopted by an idiot.

Had he been shot we wouldn't have to worry about such things.

in the video, the dog never touched the officers. and in a lot of cases, if there is no bite, there is no "attack" that would cause a potentially dangerous label on the dog
