He was being detained to remove him from the situation because he was not complying with requests from police. If you resist - You move from passive compliant to passive resistor. Passive compliant gets cuffed to protect officers from further escalation during a close in contact.

The cop approached the dog. That's was it's only reason for lunging at him. If the cop paid not mind to the dog, nothing would've happened. It was simply doing as a dog does, protecting its owner.

...i'm guessing the two innocent victims who's vehicle was riddled w/ bullets by LAPD during the dorner manhunt would take issue w/ this line of thinking...

We are neighbors. Could I have the opportunity to train the department on dog behavior? Seriously, I work with APA and would appreciate any opportunity.

Umm, sure, if you'd like to spin my response into something it's not have at it. Are you insinuating that all cops are blood thirsty killers?

They owner of the dog WAS letting them do their job. It's not against the law to record the police, he wasn't yelling anything at them, and he didn't order the dog to attack (it's natural for them to protect their owners, regardless of breed).

"be an American and let them do their job." You sound like a sheep that doesn't care about all the corruption going on in the white house. Just sit back and let anyone do whatever they want to you. There is so much wrong with this country right now and it honestly disappoints me that people like you are willing to let it happen. A badge does not mean you can do whatever the hell you want.

Funny- But what was the dog doing at large?? OWNER FAILED TO SECURE HIM. Police got handed a crap situation and it went the crappiest was possible. Better outcomes - Sure there were, but the cops aren't the only people who coulda done things different.

BTW - I just noticed the owner kicking towards and yelling at the dog just prior to the shoot....That is even more reason for me to think the OWNER knew the dog was amped up, not scared.

A good dog will defend its owner, that is their nature. The dog doesn't have any ability to reason as to the entire situation at hand. All the dog knows is that his buddy was "in danger" and the dog will act in defense of his owner.

It is a shame that the dog took the hits for this. But the owner should have done many things different in this situation. Example, listen to the police officers at hand. They are allready on high alert because of the situation they are in.

Can I say that the officer did the right thing in the end, no. Not my place. But can I say to google images of dog bite victims, or dog attack vitims, and see the damage that a dog is easily capable of. And possibly, it can maybe open eyes a little bit to understand why the officer acted like he did. And the fear of getting attacked by a dog, let alone a relatively big one.

If I had a dog starting to come at me in any type of aggressive/protective manor, I would probably act the same. Even if it was my own dog. Which I have two of, and they are my best friends. But in a loe's eyes, its me, or someone else. And they are going to do what ever they have to to go back home.

Have you never had a dog? Dogs will do anything to protect their owners from something they deem a threat
