They are some people that still live like that back where I'm from. A few years ago while I was home for Christmas me, my dad, aunt, and uncle went up to my great uncles old farm house to help him with his chickens. They had gotten out of the coop and had roosted on his front porch.

    Chickens and Walnuts Part I

    Chickens and Walnuts Part II

BTW, in the second one the music is coming from the radio.

He lived in that old farm house (he died late last year) all by himself since my great grandmother died in 1969. No plumbing. He didn't even have an outhouse until about 10 years ago when one was built for him. Until then you had to go to the creek at the bottom of the hill.

All of the beds were board slates with straw mattresses. If you have never slept on one then you don't know how fun it is to wake up with a bunch of new bug bites.

I remember when politically correct wasn't invented, and no one cared if you said something was retarded - we called it how it was and no feelings were hurt. Without further ado...

Cakmakli's uncle just needs a retarded kid with a banjo and the sequel is ready to shoot!

Dude have you SEEN what they got away with in the early talkies before everything got regulated? Most films dealt with whores on the run and troubled marriages from adultery. You ain't so innocent - though my favorite Christmas movie is It's a Wonderful Life

Hey! Welcome to the club! You have just counted your first 'grizzle'.

They still do that. I forget the name of the service.
You guys remember the milkman delivering to your door? :)

All you need is coax and you're good to go.

I got the belt, a cold shower with my clothes on, and a trip to school in my pajamas (not all in the same day).

I remember spending more time in the day OUTSIDE than INSIDE.

    Well... I'm only 31 and I remember:

When most of my music as a kid was on LP's ( vinyl records)
The phone in the kitchen was a heavy plastic phone with a rotary dial
The "enemy" was basically the Soviet Union

Toyota trucks were actually more like tractors. Very little "luxury". Dad's first Toyota truck had painted metal on the door sills.

All my papers were written on an electric "daisy wheel" typewriter
Starting wage was a whopping $4.25 an hour
$20 would buy you two heaping bags of groceries
Gas was around 89-99 cents a gallon
The scariest news in world events was Oliver North
You could buy a house in East TN for $20,000

cakmakli, where's your late great uncles house at? in PA somewhere?

My grandma's got a ~80 acre farm in near Washington PA. It was built in the late 1800's and the people who built it made all the bricks in what is now a hay field. Whenever my grandparents bought the house in the 70's they added running water and bathrooms.

I really like old farm houses...in fact I'd love to get a house out in the country on like 10+ acres instead of living in a city or suburbs.

Oh, and while I switched from vid 1 to 2, another one of your vids came up of your sons birthday...

I gotta say man, your daughter is pretty cute ;) :p

I remember being in Jr. High school ...finding someone's pak of smokes and hiding in the school yard to smoke them with your buddies. We thought we were cool! I also remember sneaking off before the school dance while someone's big brother gave us a couple beers. Drinking 1 beer and thinking we were drunk.

I remember going out at night and wrapping cars/motorcycles with papertowels & syran wrap. Throwing toilet paper into trees... throwing egss at houses. Oh boy, I was bad! (laugh)

Jesus, now-a-days....kids are having sex & getting pregnant, doing drugs, and carrying guns. What's next?

im only 26...but ive experienced a lot of "old" things

i spent every summer growing up in a early 1800s farm house with no a/c and only 1 bathroom that had been added on in more recent times

i learned how to drive on a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee Tractor and a 1966 Chevy C10 pickup on dirt roads

entertainment meant chasing lightning bugs as the sun set...and june bugs during the day...

i remember my dad telling me i was now old enough to help out...and all of a sudden learning how to plant and harvest a garden...and mow a lawn...and bushhog a field...

our phone out there was a rotary phone on a party line...

our water came from a well
