I'm not gonna voice my opinion on who was right vs wrong. I see pros and cons to both sides.

But FUCK - watching that dog suffer ruined my day... :pout:

Did you watch the video that started this discussion?? Because that third party record shows a different sequence of events than the owner just retold.

Eyewitnesses are not as reliable as everyone thinks...

It's crazy to me the amount of people who think the officer was in the wrong here. I know everyone has their own opinions but could you honestly say that you would not have shot that dog if you were in that officers shoes. And if you think you can honestly say that, then you've obviously never encountered a dog that made you feel scared before

First of all, the guy was detained for what? Video taping? That's not illegal. And then when his dog acted out of instinct, it was shot? What the fuck is wrong with law enforcement these days? Trigger happy, power hungry cocksuckers.

Would you go read the entire thread where your first question is answered MULTIPLE times!?! And yeah- Police officer acted on his self preservation instinct to respond to a dog which was set up to fail by a bad owner.

And keep the blanket name calling out of it.

I thought Cali had passed a law making it illegal to video tape police?

It's sad and it makes me angry. I truly believe cops go overboard shooting dogs.

However it is 100% the owners fault. You have to properly secure your animal. That would have prevented this.

This THREAD went viral, much less the video.

    Agreed for sure there.

Seriously? You would be willing to take the fall for killing a POLICE OFFICER over a dog getting shot? I hope you don't have nay family that will miss you while you spend the next 30 years in prison.

So a cop should release the handcuffs on a man who WE DON'T KNOW WHY in the first place (and according to a comment on the first page, the man with the dog has been a long going troublemaker) so that he can possibly get into his car and get a gun or a knife? THAT would really make headlines.

It is simple, first off, the dog owner was putting HIMSELF into a bad situation. Sure, it is legal to record something like that on video. And you could even tell that the owner knew he was being cuffed since he turned around to let them do it. If he put his dog into his car, and then began to walk towards the officers, he should have made sure his dog was secured. It was his own damn fault that he failed to secure his own dog. I feel for the dog for sure, since he was only doing what he thought was right. The problem is the dog and the owner should have never been in that position in the first place.

Of course he would call 911, you can't take the law in to your own hands (under certain circumstances), it's illegal for a civillian to do what a cop does.

Owner put the dog in that situation, he wanted the attention and he got it. If it were me having a large dog lunging at me with a gun in my hand, you can rest assured I would have done the same thing.
Still it is sad that the dog got shot but I honestly cannot blame the cop.

They cant pass a law banning it because the US court of appeals has stated that NO state can do so. This was discussed in another thread. HOWEVER in some situations a police officer can arrest someone if they feel that the person is hindering or interfering with an investigation.
