I paid about $40 for someone to come to my work and fix one on my truck. It was about that size and you can't really see it any more.

Not to hijack, but will a crack always get bigger? I have a dime sized crack and haven't seen it growing in 2 months so I figured it's fine the way it is.

Yes, it could easily crack across the entire window. When temps start changing it can start expanding and contracting and cause it to crack more.

    That sucks man.

I've had a few repaired and my insurance has always taken care of it. I just call them up and they ask me who I would like to use, they connect me with that company, and they come out to fix it. Doesn't cost a dime and doesn't raise the insurance rate or deductable. I suppose I just assumed all comprehensive policies were like that. Shows what I know

$140 for a new windshield is an awesome deal! Safelite quoted me $140 for a repair and over $500 for a new one.

Found out today that State Farm is one of the few insurance companies that don't do window repairs. They just charge the deductable, which is $500 for me.

I got one that looks about like yours but it's way over on the right side. Repairing one that size doesn't hide it but just prevents it from spreading. I repaired mine but I'll wait until the windshield gets something bad before I replace it.

There's nothing wrong with most aftermarket glass companies but some have better quality glass. When I had my windshield replaced on my truck the glass they had originally installed was distorted. From the drivers seat looking out the windshield towards the passenger side everything looked wavy; almost like if you would've had one too many beers.
After doing a little bit of research I found that Pilkington is the OEM glass for vehicle manufacturers such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, BMW, Honda, Toyota, and many others. The only difference is that the "aftermarket" Pilkington glass doesn't have the Toyota name on it. So after contacting the company that had installed the windshield and explaining the problem with the distortion I asked if they carried Pilkington glass and if they could swap it out. They apologized about the quality of the windshield they had installed and swapped that one out with a Pilkington windshield. You'd be amazed at the difference now if you guys would've seen the two side by side.

damn, that's unfortunate, well good luck, hope the repair lasts

Check into some other places. I had to replace a rear window on an f150 I broke, prices varied greatly by location and shops, ended up driving 2 hours to a safelite and saved about $500. In my local area prices fluctuated by 300 or more $$.

I would advise any one to look at the new glass before they put it in glass is not the same some do not have the 3rd visor or the tint is different etc. Safelite uses Chinese glass as do some others it is not the same quality.
