That is the result I want to even justify dynamatting the truck at all. How much dynamat did you use?

OP, do you slam the door OR do you close it with your hand on the handle the entire close? This might solve the problem.

Did you happen to take any photos of the process when you did this?

    Now THAT'S helpful.

I had a 2005 DC, and the doors shut quite solidly. After I sold it and bought a 2013 AC, I did notice the difference right away. It is all due to the door closing on the smaller door, not on a B pillar as in the DC. The door closing on the AC is different, but I know why, and am not going to go out and sell my AC in order to get a 'door closing sound' like I had in the DC, or regret buying an AC. I'm hoping the OP will come to the same conclusion.

    X2. Welcome to TW

Mine never sounded cheap that I can remember, although I put around 50lbs worth of dynamat in it within 1 week of purchase, so maybe I just never realized it.

I do know what OP is talking about though. I have personally noticed that each truck is different regardless of how many doors it has. I was going to trade my 09' for a 13' and the 13' I was looking at felt really cheap (doors) its hard to explain but its kinda hit and miss and some are worse than others. Some sound very good from the start. Idk what's so different :notsure:

But yeah I'd say add dynamat and problem should be reduced. My entire door is covered and it closes like a Benz.

56 posts since the question was asked, and none by the OP. He either decided it WAS a dumb thing to be concerned about, or he didn't mind his door sound after all, or that TW isn't worth checking out...

In my recently departed '10 double cab, I noticed the doors felt light, but I never gave it much thought. A while after buying the truck, I replaced the factory speakers with Boston Acoustics units using the factory enclosures. The extra weight made the doors seem really solid. Dumb little thing, proves how much it's about perception... but I liked it better :D

PS Those factory speakers were mind-blowingly cheap.

Agreed. It isn't really the sort of "problem" that can be readily addressed. So, we are helping fix the issue by suggesting that the way to make your doors sound like a Lexus is to buy a Lexus :p

I had an 08 Tundra before my current 09 Taco. I noticed the taco has more of a solid thud to it when closing it. Wasn't a big deal on the Tundra for me but I did notice a difference and I like the way my Taco feels solid!

    I know right?! :D

Lol, but in all seriousness, if the OP decided to stick around and we didn't scare him off already with our assholery, just Dynamat (or use something equal to or better than) and call it a day, that stuff, will add weight and reduce some road noise. Weight will go up, but fuck it.

The hood on my land cruiser sounds like a tin roof when you close it but it's 21 years old and going strong. I'll put some sort of sound deadening on it eventually.
