2014 Tacoma

2014 Baja package will be full long travel with glass and full cage

 

Oh Brother. Here we go again. Will this ever go away?? Listen up and listen hard......I work at the Texas plant and build Tacomas.There is No, I repeat No info on the 2014 Tacoma. If there are any changes they are not coming in the 2014 version. The 2014 will start being produced in August and those of us who build them have not had any training on a new version. Any major changes take at a minimum 6 months of planning, training and equipment changes. Sorry to disappoint, but It's not gonna happen anytime soon. I guess just like in the 'real' world, looks like 'Tacoma' world has idiots and morons too. Unbelievable!!

Ordered as a 2013. But I don't care anyway, I signed the order and have my truck price on paper.

No dealers I spoke with (6) mentioned anything about the possibility of not being able to get a 2013 and didn't mention 2014 once.

Talk to another dealer or 3?

I heard from a friend who heard from his boss who has an uncle that has a friend that married a Mexican women who has a niece that works in the Mexico Toyota plant and he said they are building the 2014 turbo diesel exclusively in the Mexico plant. With that being said I believe you are incorrect.

 

Thanks - I'm dealing with 3 dealers now, one is pretty sure it will be a 13, one isn't so sure, and no answer from the 3rd.

Tacomabuilder67, Just out of curiosity, what months do they build the Tacoma? When does production start and stop?

 

The Tacoma (as well as the Tundra) is built all 12 months of the year. One day the last 2013 models are built, and the very next day we start building the 2014's.

Wow! Really? Is that normal? I thought cars/trucks were only built a certain few months a year. Mine is a 2013 built November 2012, must've been a crapload of Tacoma's built before mine that year! lol!

 

What happens if on that next day, there is a truck, which was special ordered as a 2013 in a color that is no longer available in 2014? Is it pulled off the line at the paint station for further instructions?

 

Look all they are doing is continuing the current Tacoma design they would announce changes at the last auto show if they had made any changes but seriously the 2014 Tacoma is not coming till the fall so just relax and enjoy the 2013s

 

It's no longer a 2013 at that point and your dealer wouldn't be able to order it in the first place.

You build a truck. The dealer orders it. Toyota has to approve that truck to be built. If it doesn't or can't then Toyota declines and your dealer will tell you so.

This is how the order process works.

 

That's the norm for the Texas plant. I have been there since the first Tundra rolled off the line in '06 and the first Tacoma in '10 and we have always built 12 months out of the year. Mine was built in May of '12 at the Texas Plant. There's a 50/50 chance I installed something on your truck.
