OME all around. SPC UCA. This and that.
I have a 2011 Offroad. Delivery trucks were bringing in the 2012 while I was sitting at the dealership fighting over the price of my trade in. The sales guy got kind off rude with me but I got the price I wanted for my trade in. I think its good to buy the older model while the new model is hitting the dealership.

I also have read alot of discussions about buying the base model and adding a locker later like ARB or something. Hope you enjoy your new truck. I miss the size of my old 1997 Tacoma but like the ATRAC and locker in the new truck. Congratulations on the new truck.:D

I hope that's true, but at least two of my three dealers don't seem to know it.

I've done a lot of reading and asking questions here too. Lots of good information here and I realized that since I'm not a serious off-roader, I really don't need A-TRAC and the elocker - TRAC and Auto-LSD are enough. Also, I like the black bumpers and flares of the base level, as well as the much lower price. Like you, I really appreciate the small size of my 96, which I'm keeping!

I can assure you I was not. I only drink on Saturday night, so I can recover on Sunday. :D No real way to find out. I had to guesstimate my trucks build day which was either on the day of or day before/after my birthday. Pretty cool.

4 of mine didn't want to bother with a custom order. They would rather sell something off the lot or don't sell anything.

The 2 that wanted to order for me, and the dealer who got my business - this is how the process was told to me. You place your order, the dealer submits the info to Toyota and a few days or a week later Toyota will approve (or not) the order. Then they give the dealer aporoximate date of production and date of delivery. Dealer calls customer with said info, etc etc.

Do you know of a good one? It tells you the exact "day" it was made?

I've used one only once. But I would be surprised if Toyota hides this info. Maybe email them with a VIN and ask?

And by the way, 1 of my dealers is doing what your 4 did. Just got an email saying they will sell me any Tacoma on the lot for $400 over invoice. The problem is that their 4WDs are all DC V6 loaded at $32K-$36K, and I'm sure that their $400 over invoice is around $30K-$34K! :p

Welcome. Hope you get what you want but I wouldn't worry about 2013/2014. Your deposit is refundable and transferable to another vehicle AFAIK. But I would go sit with the sales mmanager and whoever is in charge of ordering for the dealership, tell them what you want and if they can't find it that you want to order a truck.
Spec the truck out and haggle pricing at the same time.
My dealer wrote my price on my spec sheet and I signed it before I left. If you wait, get a truck ordered and delivered and you haven't negotiated.. well now they have your dream truck on the lot and you will pay what they want for it or they will sell it elsewhere.

Negotiate price first so they have no upper hand in negotiating.

Mine didn't dick me around at all. I actually bullshitted them pretty hard on offers from other dealer that I had a morning appt with the following morning for the truck and my trade in value. So before I got there they knew I was going to order a truck in the morning somewhere else. They wanted my business and they got it. I was there a few hours while they tried locating an existing truck that wasn't reserved. So they told me to take a spin in the V6 DCSB PreRunner while I waited. You know, in case I wanted a much easier to find V6. I told them I'd be fine with a V6 if they price matched.

But yeah, I had a quote for 24,100 on a 2013 DCSB PreRunner with convenience package. I told the dealer I ended up buying from that price was committed on same truck but with the SR5 package ($1500). Bullshitted a committed price on my trade in that was never discussed with other dealer but was what I wanted them to pay for. They agreed to it and that was signed as well when I ordered and when 4-6 weeks go by while I'm still driving it, they will pay the same amount even with 2k extra miles on it.

I signed for a 2013 Super White 2.7 auto DCSB PreRunner with SR5 and alloy wheels ($2000) for $24,442.

Absolutely right. No way would I hand over $500 without a price written in stone up front. And I also make them agree that if the truck is not exactly as ordered, the deposit is refunded if I demand it. One dealer asked for an alternative color to Spruce Green(I said no), which makes me think his idea of a "special order" is to find a similar truck on the line and change it as much as possible. I think the problem is, he is one of my 2 dealers who are in the Gulfstates Distributor region.

I pre-ordered that 2 years ago and it still hasn't come in. I'm starting to think the dealership is dicking me around???

If he's asking for alternate ideas then he is trying to find existing inventory somewhere. I had a list of colors available in my build configuration, went to the lot and saw them in person and made my choice.

Ordering is ridiculously easy. Cutting through dealership BS not so much!

That's a good price - one of my dealers' best price on a 2013 AC White base 2.7 PreRunner was $23,900, only discounted $600.
