Creationism vs. Evolution

There is a difference then?

 

Being a biologist, I am quite convinced with evolution.

That being said, there is no conclusive evidence about the 'beginning of it all' as it were. Therefore, I'm not sure who's cranking. I'm glad it/they don't stop.

 

This thread is about to give me a serious bowel movement.

 

Even among those who regard so called Christianity, like we've seen on display here, together with religion in general as mindless hocus-pocus, there is an understanding that humans may not be adequately wired to survive without a God component at work in their lives.

It's hard enough to survive in a fang-and-claw world in which hunting, killing, thieving, cheating and staying one step ahead of your enemies is the only thing that pays dividends. It's even harder when no moral cop is walking the beat to blow the whistle when things get out of control. Best to have a deity on hand to rein in our worst impulses, bring out our best and, coincidentally, give us a sense that there's someone awake at the switch in the overarching cosmic house when the lights go out at night and we find ourselves wondering what we're doing here in the first place.

The presence of religion in various forms across all cultures in every age argues that the idea of a deity, a God component, is hard wired into the very core of the human genome, not invented on the fly. It's apparently there for good reasons, not the least of which is that as the sole species capable of contemplating its own demise, we humans need something larger than ourselves to lean on, something that helps make that knowledge tolerable.

It's unfortunate that man's need of and search for spiritual solace has engendered the levels of misunderstanding and mistrust that we see in the world around us. Man remains, underneath it all, the hunter/killer creature he was tens of thousands of years ago as he began his journey towards the future that we experience today, ..and it clearly shows, particularly in those who do their best to mask its presence.

I am just gonna throw this out there, my Chemistry teacher was a Christian, she told the class that she believed that God created everything.
