    Worth it from MPG standpoint?

    No. There is no change in MPG with a CAI.
    If anything, MPG drops because the noise causes the driver to mash the go pedal harder.

    I'm not too concerned with MPG. I think the best way to improve MPG is to just drive conservatively... Which I'm terrible at :D

    I was wondering more about the increase in performance versus the cost. I'm looking at a used one for $250. If it's just gonna make the truck sound a bit beefier I don't want to drop that much cash.

    Just noise.

    And dirt in the engine.

    My afe proguard 7 with pre filter hasn't let any dirt in. And with supporting mods and tune they do have a very small performance boost. But you need more free flow thorough the exhaust system to compliment it

    I installed the volant CAI with scoop it was an easy install. I noticed more sound (obviously) the idle would not go below 1k rpms at idle for about an hour or two, then it adjusted back to normal. I feel that it accelerated quicker and sounds more like a truck as soon as I fired it it it was noticeable! I have the alterra dash dyno and the mpg at first went from 17.6 to 17.4 after wanting to hear it getting on it more but now has returned to 17.6 exactly where it was. Also air temp compared to outside temp was reduced By a few degrees at a all temp ranges. All and all I enjoy it it looks good under the hood, however I paid over 300 even with a 20 off promo.

    Oh by the way I have only had it for two fuel ups but long story short no mpg gains yet air intake temp is cooler, unless the cpu is still adjusting to it. Looks and sounds great, power on butt dyno.... I think so ....slightly noticeable in acceleration (bottom end). Overall satisfied!

    The idea that the cpu is adjusting over some period of time doesn't make any sense.

    In closed loop (95% of the time) the cpu is adjusting based on O2 sensor readings. It does it continually when the engine runs, there is no additional cpu adjusting.

    CEL on all the time, causing some late shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear, just seems to be trouble, tried a new MAF sensor and still a CEL, thinking of going back to stock box

    How is a cel causing late shifts? Makes no logic. Also stop over oiling your filter, that's why the maf is getting bad readings, it's caked with oil. I've had zero problems with my afe filter, and it's oiled but not over oiled.

    Pretty sure the afe uses a safer oil also.

    But overoiling with any air filter is never a good idea.
