I just had a complete OME suspension put on my truck. I put new wheels and tires on and went with 255/85/16. The truck now has a vibration when I get to approximately 55 MPH. The steering wheel shakes side to side and I can feel the vibration in my whole truck. If I was to guess though I would guess the problem is in the front end somewhere. Never had the problem before the install of the new suspension. The parts list that I installed is...

    Front
    OME 881 coils
    OME 90004 nitrocharger shocks
    Toytec diff drop
    Daystar Urethane Bump Stops
    Daystar Urethane Sway Bar D-Bushings

    Rear
    OME Dakar Leaf Springs
    OME SB89 Urethane spring bushings
    OME 60062 Rear Shocks
    Stone guard kit
    BPV Bracket Kit
    SS-20 Extended rear brake line
    U bolts
    OME-GS12 Greasable shackles
TT-RS-845 Zinc Rear axle shims (2.5 Deg.)

I'm assuming you already had a new alignment done?

Sounds like a problem I had with my old Pathfinder. Took it in to the shop and it turns out the alignment was way off.

First, double-check all your lug nuts for being tight and torqued correctly.

But the most likely culprit of the speed-specific vibration is the new tires and wheels being improperly balanced. This is vey common. Does the vibration show up at 55, then if you go faster, say 65-70, go away?

For some reason, many tires "techs"" just don't' have a clue, or don't do dynamic balancing.

Or, the tires could also have a defect, or so could wheels.

First, I recommend taking it back to the wheel shop, ask them to rebalance the wheels, and also ask them to rotate the tires on the wheels if necessary to get it correctly balanced. If they don't want to do that, talk to the manager or take your business to be a better shop.

You have a very mild lift. I have 881, no diff drop, no problems. I doubt this is the cause.

Oh, and duh, yes OP, did you get an alignment? They may say they can't get caster into spec. Specifically ask them to crank in lots of caster so they don't do a toe-and-go. With 881s, they should be able to do it if they are competent and your cam bolts aren't seized.

That is a poignant observation, Monte of the North.

OP, you have a 2012? But you posted in first gen? And 881s are only for 1st gens, not 2nd gens?:notsure:

I have to agree with what everyone else has already mentioned. Check tire balance and get an alignment. The one other thing that might be messing with the vehicle is the axle shim. I didn't need it after doing 882's front and Dakar's+D6XL rear. The LR UCA's helped for the front and my truck tracks well. Just my $0.02.

The vibration seems to go away when I get it above 70 MPH. I have MT Classic lock wheels. I watched them balance the wheel before putting the ring on the outside of the wheel. Maybe the culprit? I will take it back in early next week and have them check everything over.

Hm. Ya. I think balance is it.

I don't see how you can balance a wheel, then put the bead lock on and still have it balanced. I have no experience with bead locks, but it is illogical to expect them to still be balanced after adding a ring of metal to the rotating mass. try taking the bead locks off and see if it goes away.

They aren't real bead locks. Think it's just plastic..

If it's metal then shit is gonna be off.

X2 on Balancing it will be night and day some techs really have no idea how to balance big tires.

I'm almost certain the ring is made out of aluminum.

Seems to me you should balance the wheel with the ring installed.

The tires were out of balance. It was the 3rd and they must have been ready to get out of there for the weekend. I would be disappointed in the shop but they cut me a great deal on the install. I was just relieved it was an easy fix
