It intrudes upon my own sense of spirituality. And it creates a sense of being stalked by a complete stranger who has an agenda and world view that is far out of touch with mine.

I said the interpretation of others that used to make the same claims you do. It may have came from medieval times but people were punished under the name of the lord because they disagreed. So once again who was really punished? The ones doing the punishing or the ones that were actually right?
