Wait wait wait -THE JOY THE ARE MISSING?? Which joy is that?? The joy of a "loving god" that tells them their lifestyle is wrong or worse inspires "therapies" to cure them?

I'm friends with few gay couples...and the are as happy as any straight couple I know, and most of the have been together just as long and just as stable too.

Finding your partner for the rest of your life is joy to me. Living a happy, ethically sound life is joy to me.
Adhering to an arbitrary belief system and telling others the are wrong because they don't believe in the same invisible man in the sky as you do might be joy to you, but it doesn't leave room for you to be accepting of others. :notsure:

Same sex couples are not accepted by the church... WHY? Because they do not produce more religous people to strengthen the church. Also why catholics don't approve of birth control.

So to be godly... You should marry someone, have tons of children to be a suck on earth's resources, don't teach your kids anything about how the physical world really works, but make sure you take them to church... Yay you made it to heaven!

I love it (or hate it, depending on my mood) how religious types try to sound scientific by adapting their argument to new scientific discoveries, but still believe:

-People once lived to be several hundred years old
-All of existence was created in a few days (the length of these days varies from observer to observer, conveniently changing with what they believe the length of a god day is)
-A pair of all animals in existence fit on a boat
-All people came from two people
-Talking snakes, parting seas, immaculate conception (seriously, on that one, what the fuck?)
-Dinosaurs either coexisted with man, or their fossils were put there as temptation from the devil, depending on who you ask
    -Etc.

Seriously that list could go on and on. Don't try to sound scientific, then try to rationalize those listed details and many more. There is nothing wrong with having a relationship with god, but once you start believing in a holy text you start sounding really crazy. I'm sure all christians scoff at the beliefs of scientologists or mormons, but I assure you, christian beliefs are just as ridiculous.

Wow... so you don't regard the consequences of your own actions to be real?

From your response you obviously didn't notice that I didn't reference the Bible in my comment, so why are you responding to what you fantasized I said instead of the realty of what I actually said?

That irresponsible lack of awareness will not serve you well in life.

    That's not quite true...
There are many liberal churches that welcome homosexuals as parishioners and sanction their relationships. There are also many openly homosexual clergy.

Arrogance is the key word that keeps coming up. To think your way is better and everyone else is missing something shows you think you are better than everyone else. Sorry but your not, your little bible may tell you that you are, but the rest of the world looks at you as arrogant pricks

No, not in your terms of consequences. Lack of awareness is 100% right, you can't seem to acknowledge someone else in this world has another point of view

They're not my terms. What happens to you as the result of your own behavior is reality. You're actually trying to disagree with that? Simply amazing.

It's a common mistake to believe the fallacy that agreement is acknowledgement.

A thread about Creationism and Evolution will always turn into a us vs. them thread. especially when a poll in involved...people love competition and want to be on the winning side.

I've made constructive points here...as have others from both sides. If not for the Christian vs. Secular aspect of this thread...the thread would be dead 4 years ago.

so, it turns into a battle of words and who can play "got-cha". I try to refrain from that aspect of the "competition".

Actually, a damn good thread. Aside from some name calling and moments of unnecessary anger from a few members. I have learned something. I hope others have as well.

My beliefs do not make me a homophobe. and I consider your calling me that both insulting and against forum rules.

You still never answered or explained why your book is the right and and your faith is the correct one? Looking forward to hearing it. Preferably without quoting unverifiable sources please.
