It has been raining for a while here, roads are closed, water everywhere. What is a Tacoma owner to do? I've been plowing through it having a blast. Water coming over the hood all that good stuff. What are the risks to the truck? I would precer no safety lectures. I know good luck with that. Serious though I would like to know if it could damage the truck and how.

Water in trans vent water in rear end vents water in air cleaner if it does it could suck it up the exhaust.. Don't let it die and exhaust won't be a problem, don't go in higher then the intake and that won't be a problem but I would vent up the trans and rear end higher i sucked water in my jeeps trans and rear ends and it was a nightmare to flush it all out

Water in places it shouldn't be. It will wash the grease out of bearings ( U-Joints, Wheel Bearings and Serpintine Idler Bearings. It could also damage the alternator ... ) Water in the differential and transmission etc ( seals were made to keep oil / grease in not hold back water ). Lots of potential damage if you do not maintain it properly.

You've really been plowing through the floodwater with a '13 doublecab 4x4? Insurance companies do look on these sites.

Thanks for the info on the breather mods. I looked them up here on TW. I guess my years of driving Hummers in the military spoiled me.

Flood waters might be a little over kill for what I was going through but definately deeper than I would attempt in any car. I am not concerned about an insurance company finding me on a web site, seriously.

What really pisses me off is paying 30K for a 4x4 that cant go through water. WTF! Water is not that extreme.
Again thanks for the info. This site is great for that

It can go through water, lots of it. You as the owner just have to maintain it properly when you do. It isn't a Hummer. It is a quality truck however.

Any grease will wash out given enough water, even in a Hummer.

I went out with some friends a few days ago, it was pretty wet. I snapped this one while on the trail. I did the diff breather mod a week or so ago luckily.
