how to fix the toyota tick

i could have swore that somewhere on here i saw someone do a write up on how to lower or get rid of the "toyota tick" on the new 1gr engine but i can not find it to save my life please help thanks

 

The Toyota tick is one of those things that just happen on Tacomas. No one really knows the cause or where its coming from.

There is no problem with having it "tick". It doesnt lose power and doesn't hurt your engine.

Put it this way if its ticking your engine is running

 

if ya cant fix it with a hammer you have a electrical problem

 

pretend its a clock...

 

Guys, do you think this tick could be from the radiator (cooling) fan? I'm not sure why I would think this. I know that some fans will grab during idle or slow driving and then shut off during higher speeds, or the other way around.
I heard that some car companies will do this for their cars to save on MPG's.
I'm not sure if you guys are hearing the same tick I hear but I usually only hear a ticking noise when I'm driving at slower speeds and I assumed it was the fan or something.
What do you guys think?

 

People have said that it might be the fuel delivery system or something along those lines.

I usually noticed it the most when im going up a fairly steep grade while my truck still is in 4 or 5 gear (automatic).

But I try and dont notice it. It doesnt harm your engine in anyway.... its just the engine's design that makes it tick.

I'm pretty sure all of the Tacomas engines had some sort of "tick"

Problem: Ticking noise coming from engine compartment. Sounds like a gnome tapping on the engine block with a pen.

Solution: Problem resolved. Took pen away from gnome.

IF I remember correctly, the thread stated it was some sort of check valve for emissions.

I do remember thinking; the fix seemed like it was more trouble than it was worth and I could live with the tick.

The thread might have been linked from TW to another toyota site. Hope this helps.

 

Maybe the tick is just to let the Fords and Chevys know it will keep on ticking long after they are gone.

 

Just learn to ignore it. I don't hear it at all unless I stop and listen for it.
