Would you buy a color you don't really like but the price is right?

i'm about to buy a TACO soon. The only thing is the best price I got is on a white TRD-Off Rd ($3,919), bed extender, roof rack (weird!?), double cab...eager to move it seems. It has been at another dealer since October 08 and they got it earlier this month the salesguy said. So its been sitting around. Underneath it already shows signs of slight corrosion and a tiny bit of orange rust in certain spots. 82 miles on the thing already.

MSRP $32k'ish and they said they'd do $26k after a while of bickering back and forth. Gotta move fast as they "claim" a few people are looking at it and they think its going to sell by Saturday.

Honestly? White is not my personal fave color. But...the price is right. Other TRD-Off Rd were the $3,520 pkg and most of them were access cabs. I am looking for a double. Found a nice one in black but dealer will only do $1000 off and when I tried to negotiate he pushed me to look at the standard SR5 which he says is "better" than the TRD

Most of the dealers around me carry SR5 models. A few have the TRD Sport/Off Rd but they don't seem to want to play as much. SR5s they will discount pretty good because there are too many of them on the lots here.

I am leaning towards just getting the white one but again its not my personal favorite color but i guess who cares right!?

White was not my first choice but the truck had all the other options I wanted - and they were ready to deal on that truck on the day I was ready to buy. For some buyers color is a big deal and will wait or even pay up to get the color they have their heart set on. It's not as important to me. IMO you can't go wrong with a white truck...

If I'm going to drop ~$25K on a vehicle it's going to be exactly what I want, color and all.

The dealer had one in every color offered, but I just didn't like any of the colors available, so I just bought white. White is like a blank canvas. You can paint graphics or racing stripes or pretty much whatever you want on it after you get it.

check my sig for mod list and build thread
white always looks good with lots of black accents such as black wheels, BHLM, black grill, dark tint, black exhaust tips, etc. but i also think you should look around at other dealers in and out of town over the internet to check and see what is available. dont pay that much money for something you feel you really dont want. you are going to be paying for it for the next several years.

Funny, I wanted white or red, they had magnetic gray and silver, they were going to offer me both for the same price, like 25,300. I decided to take the silver but was overridden by my wife and son for the magnetic gray, like it now, not so much when I bought it.

If you really HATE the color...don't do it. If it's "OK" then get it. I look at time as money and if you have to keep looking and looking and looking...it's costs you more.

White is a nice color and it does look good with black accents (not chrome).

Red wasn't my first choice but it was offered at the best price and I felt I could live with it. I have grown to love it.

are you willing to pay roughly an extra hundred dollars a month for a color you "had" to have?

well i do not HATE white, its just not a color i ever considered. I have been looking at black and gray for the past 2 months.

I've never really seen a Taco with a roof rack already installed, do you think this was a special order? Also not sure why its been hanging around since Oct. If it was such a good deal why is it still here? Also the tad bit of corrosion and rust sorta bothers me but I guess its gonna happen anyway.

I do have a dealer to go to that does have a black TRD Off Rd out of state that he said he would do his best at matching the price of the white one. Wants me to come in to talk about it. Of course, hook line and sinker!!!

Another dealer has a Gray TRD Off Rd that I am going to try to beat up again...i talked to them 2 weeks ago and they would not budge, only $1k off. I got a call from them last night requesting i come in to talk about price.

I guess its the end of the month...not sure if July is something special to the Toyo dealers. They are acting desperate...they didn't do this at the end of May that's for sure.

Dealers have to meet quota's to receive "dealer incentives". These are monthly bonuses paid by the manufacturer to the dealer for meeting goals. If it is getting close to the end of the month and they have not met their goals, dealers get real aggressive.

When they obtain the goal, they get money for each and every car they sold. They will take a loss on the last couple to meet the goal - if necessary. The problem is guessing when their month ends...it's not always based on the calender year.

I know this because a family friend owns the 10th largest Chrysler dealer in the country.

also i hate how they salesguys push you into something you do not want!

SR5 - they are all pushing it. I made up my mind i want the TRD Off Rd yet they try so hard to convince me a TRD is not worth the money, its not that much different, its just for looks, hahaha. come on.

Some of them went as far as to try to sell a used truck of DIFFERENT BRAND. One was trying to sell me an 08 Nismo Crew Cab saying its so much better than the Taco, or one was trying to sell me a 08 GMC Canyon (run away!!!) saying I'd get better use out of it vs a Taco.

anything for a sale these days.

None. Stock with options - Roof rack, running boards, hood scoop, etc.
I went to many dealerships with the intention of buying a BSP or a Super white. But I settled for a SWB because of the price I got it for. $25k out the door , TRD Sport, with rack & tubes.. Live in S. Cali which was the best deal that I could find. Bought at Poway Toyo

Put it this way: I drive a Pyrite Mica. I have yet to see another, period. It's been 4-5 months. I spent 3 weeks getting it and there were only 2 others in the entire state. I spent 3 weeks getting it for the same price as a white truck.

It can be done, it all depends on you and your situation. I picked a poo poo color no one wanted but I loved and had to have.

thecreeper, are you in Denver by chance?? Your situation sounds awfully familiar to mine. I bought about 2 months ago and wanted Gray, could have gotten white for $400 cheaper (Go Toyota) but I went to another dealer to get Mag Gray. One of the dealers with a Mag Gray would not negotiate over the phone, they tried to get me in there multiple times (Mtn States), I quit talking to them.

for a difference of 5k dollars...you would be crazy not to buy the white one, unless you get another dealer to match their price on the white one....if we were talking about 500 dollars difference i'd say get the color you want...5k difference you might as well dig a hole and hop in, you'll be in immediate positive equity with the white truck not to mention knowing you got a killer deal on it.
