Store your AR15 in your Tacoma

Not sure how what I said could be confused.

Seems pretty obvious to me.

 

I like this idea...my EOTech may find its way back on to my AR from my 870...or maybe I'll drill a bigger hole

 

Given that I had just been talking about velcro, and you subsequently said the word "secure", I thought you meant that velcro couldn't securely hold a shotgun. I read it fast. Stop being a dick.

 

I think you probably could but just to note, the gun is partially held in place by the accessory attachments. The velcro strap around the castle nut just anchors it against what else is in there. So you just have to be sure to drill in the right spot. Otherwise the gun can move around a little.

All right. If I did it with the 870 though, I think I'd do it vertically on the driver's side (I have a folding stock)...either that or in the under-seat storage.

 

The driver's side is definitely ideal. Pics would be great if you can get it to work. The space behind the DC's seats is great. If you can make way for a barrel, there's tons of stuff that can be done.

Great idea, now which AR do I want to carry!

Due to length (still had to break down the AR to fit in bag) I have carried one of my folding stock AK47s with red dot optic in a discreet carry bag in back floorboard. I have also used a tennis racket bag to not draw attention, still worried about a smash and grab though.

I had someone break into my car and take nothing but a cheap jacket and a half used air freshener. I wouldn't put it past anyone to steal a tennis racquet. Out of sight is still the best way. LWRC came out with their guitar case bags but hey guitars are valuable too right?

 

I'm being a dick? No, I just am a little more concerned with how secure my firearms are than you seem to be. If that means not falling from the roof and hitting someone in the head or being easily stolen when I'm not in the truck to fall in the wrong hands. You clearly have it all figured out though so have fun with your half assed project. I just hope it doesn't end up hurting someone or giving firearm owners everywhere a bad name.

Ostrich, you could have initially just said, "Dude, this is kind of concerning. Leaving your guns exposed like that is problematic for obvious reasons. Maybe you could do this or perhaps this?"

Instead you come across as "Hey dickface, you're a moron and you clearly subsist on nothing but pretzels and apple juice. You're going to get people killed a-hole!" I find that the answers come more quickly when you make the dialogue more constructive rather than confrontational. You'll realize later that the OP was completely rational and just throwing out ideas. Your constructive reply will help fill in the blanks and no one will have to be a dick.

 

That's funny because that's basically what I said. I didn't get into details because it was hinging on how you received constructive criticism which obviously isn't very well. You say I came across as.... yet I said none of those things. Funny how it was actually YOU who was calling names and making it personal and yet somehow it's me. Ok. Sure. I don't know why you're so butthurt about this. Relax, I'm not angry about a forum post, you shouldn't be either. On any other day we would have met at the range, shot guns, traded stories, etc. Let it be.

Actually they do.

I've responded to countless auto prowls in which the sunglasses holder (on the ceiling) was broken out or opened and items missing. Seats get folded back, glove boxes get opened, things you thought would be secure get stolen.

The mere idea of just velcroing a firearm inside your vehicle scares me. In no way is that secure from theft. Lock that shit up!

On a side note, Ost is a personal friend of mine, very very knowledgeable in firearms, shooting, safety and other such things. He was not correcting you, simply noticing a few extremely dangerous security issues with your set up of unsecured weapons in your vehicle.

If you immediately jump to calling someone a dick when in reality there is a real safety concern that you appear to chose not to notice, your time on this forum will be limited. Staff doesn't handle that kinda crap lightly.
