    So... I got to do a little exploring this weekend. Spent all of Friday in the mountains on trails and FS roads with my brother. Even let him drive the truck some. He had a blast, first time ever doing something like that.

    Saw a bunch of wildlife out ther, including 2 seperate sightings of small blackbears, deer, lots of deer, and even Elk. Did not see a Badger tho.

    Also went on a 4 hour rafting trip down the Methow river. My first time ever doing rafting. Was a hoot.

    No pics of the bears and hopefull my friend will send me soem pics from the rafting trip. More to come but these are from Sweetgrass Butte. Its about halfway between Mazama and the Canadian Border.

    Hmm...

    I can see right off why you are having trouble. This is not really a sub amp. Its designed for door speakers.

    I'm guessing here but it seems like it is possible to combine the power of your 2 channels into one, for a single speaker but that fucks with the power output. Someone smarter than me might be able to figure that out, but I have no clue when it comes to doing that stuff.

    I am certainly not an expert in these things, all I know is from what Monte has taught me and by building my setup but it seems like to do what you want, you really need a a class D mono block amp. Then you can power one of the polk subs you've been considering.

    I figured you had but I thought it might help to hear it agian said in a different way. Sometimes you guys can't hear each other very well. :eek:

    So, is it possible to "bridge" the 2 channels into a single output with enough power and headroom to power say a polk db8?

    It seems unlikely, that amp could ever be able to power the one I got, the polk mm 840, but it might on the "db" version.

    Yep. It says the channels are bridgeable to output 290 watts at 4 ohms.

    Monoblocks (single channel) amps are more ideal for powering subs.

    Yes it's bridgeble. But not idea. I ran a bridged type a/b 2400w amp in my first system.

    His just doesn't put if the power plus bridging isn't ideal anyways.

    But not sure how he had it wired anyways so coulda been messed up there too.

    It could drive the sub yes. But again..not an ideal setup. Wouldn't get the true performance from the sub and the amp would be over worked heavily.

    Filtering helps a lot.

    And your could go lower due to the larger subs. More surface area to create the massive wave lengths. But overall response of 12" subs is bad compared to 8" due to their large size.

    Not a bad thing if you like bass heavy stuff.

    HU is a big part but they are many other small factors as well. I'm certain your mids and highs are no where near on the same level as mikes. Granted your ear may also not be "tuned" to hear that. Again a personal taste thing and practice.

    The gains on the amp and HU?? You have to set them..other wise your subs are way to loud or quiet or you ha e on amp working much to hard then the other. Makes for good or bad sound. Most people have no idea wth it is. Thus crap sound.

    You said it was an alpine sub but I don't rcall the model. Do you have a link to it?

    I've been wondering about this as well. As far as I know, I am still running the stock speakers in the doors and back xcab. I say "as far as I know" because I bought the truck with 36K on it and have no idea if the original owner changed them out.

    Ben says his HU cannot set the low pass filter like mine. Filtering out all frequencies below 100 hzs to the door speakers made a HUGE difference in the overall way my system sounds. It cleaned up both the bass from the sub as well as the mids from the door speakers.

I wanted parts for the apache gyro, not apache. so i get to send em back, lose money, then order new parts. I just want my helo to work :(

    haha, yeah, trying to. I can turn it up pretty loud. So far the stock door speakers are taking the abuse. As is my hearing. :eek:

    One of the things I want to see on your HU is your EQ graph. I have "edited' mine to how I like it with the windows up and also normal, around town driving but when wind noise is added, it seems like it could be better. I suppose I could tweak my EQ for those circumstances but then I may not like it under normal driving conditions. :annoyed:

    Type S...shit sub

    His is also crisper due to a single 8" sub. 8" subs respond better a faster hence crisper. 12s are slow and clubby but hit low and hard. 10s are a great medium why I run them.

    And if your boosting everything to the max that right there shows your have gain issues and under powered amp.

    A HU will help. But your subs aren't going to sound that much better with a weak amp and bad subs. The over all sound might get cleaner but won't be a miracle.

    My hu only has a 3 band EQ and it's not graphic. Yours is 5 band..very jealous.

    I'd like a 30 band :anonymous: but not worth it n my truck haha maybe in my new one..

    Can it store multiple custom settings? Really you shouldn't have the windows down at 70..at noise alone will damage your ears a lot. AC man!
