Relying on an animal for probable cause seems like a manipulation of the law as it's written.

Not gonna argue that, cause that may very well been the case, maybe not.

What do you do for a living? I'm sure there are douche canoes in your profession who don't know every aspect of the job.

Agreed. Every situation can be handled "better". And nail on the head...super troll.

This guy looks like he's 60 coming up on a retirement community in FL. Either way, to lump EVERY cop under 40 into your "douche" category seems a little....IDK....like profiling!?!?! What do you do for a living?

I'm pretty sure the kid was wrong, actually. Didn't the Supreme Court say in 1990 that checkpoints, if operated legally, required the temporary suspension of 4th amendment rights but were constitutional? They have to be clearly marked ahead of time and be publicly disclosed (hence why they are always mentioned on the radio on a Friday or Saturday night), but if a driver willingly drives into a checkpoint, he/she must provide identification and be subject to the officer's requests, as long as they are reasonable (at least that's how it's been explained to me by my lawyer and cop friends). I'd say asking someone to roll down their window and provide identification are reasonable.

Either way, the kid is kind of a douche. If you have nothing to hide, why cause trouble? Are your rights REALLY being impeded by helping an officer who is trying to keep people safe? You think a guy who is trying to catch drunks and criminals isn't going to get suspicious when you don't roll your window down, give your identity, answer questions? I don't feel bad for his car getting damaged by the dog...he brought that on himself. He would have been out of there in less than a minute if he had just answered the questions.

This whole situation could've been avoided had the kid just shut his fuckin' mouth and followed the officers demands! (Which were reasonable)

Yup cop was pissed the guy didn't roll down the window. Than had his buddy come over with the dog to scratch the guys car all up knowing they prob. wouldn't find anything. Just another case of a power tripping leo. Makes me sick

These things are being challenged EVERY day. The things I am permitted to do or not do can change at any given time. It's about interpretation of the constitution as written, by the individuals ELECTED by the people (YOU). So ya, the people YOU elect are the ones who decide what we can and can't do.

So the kid was a troll, so what.

Professionals of all types, LEO, firefighter, paramedic, even military personel, all have to deal with, guess what, people.

I have to act like a professional when doing my job, even if people are being dumb, so does this police officer. Dude obviously shouldn't have been barking orders and getting upset over another kid who thinks he knows the law.

This is not the point of the video. He was trolling - I hate those people too - but there is more to take into account than him not being a compliant little douche. There are so many "what-if" type questions that could be asked, but lets avoid those all together.

If I have to obey the law, then EVERYBODY must obey the law. We are not in the wild-wild-west anymore. Cops can't act outside/above the law because someone is giving them lip. He has every right to not answer those questions and ask to be released, he did just that.

    DUI checkpoint....

Officer wants window down so they can get close, smell and visual on eyes is critical at checkpoints like this, so this is first fail....

then, officer asks driver how old he is, simple answer, 21 sir, but no, driver now being a bit of a 'pill' so to speak...so second fail....

I have been stopped in DUI checks before, most recent about 17 months ago traveling cross country from California, was in the Tennessee backwoods about 2:30AM with some of definite LEO rednecks, always roll the window completely down unless pounding rain or something, look the officer in the eye, maybe show drivers license, done....and the last time I had some 4/20 sequestered somewhere in the back bed and they were none the wiser thank god....

So, if you want to be a bit of a Richard, expect to be harassed....in no way am I defending the LEO's, I thought their behavior was a bit gruff even before the needling the kid gave back to the LEO....they were ready for some sass talk...

    just sayin'.....

You know "you" are one of us too, no need to separate yourself from the "people". Thats the biggest issue here, when LEOs view themselves as separate from the rest of 'us". I have the up most respect for a "Professional" LEO, my long time GF's dad and stepmom are LEO's.

No, I have been predisposed into thinking by my parents that being an ass hat, gets you an ass hat response. It has nothing to do with my chosen profession.

The kid was acting like he had something to hide...i'm sure thats why the officer acted the way he did...but I agree, just because you enforce the law...doesn't mean your above it!!!

    1. the cop didn't say why he wanted the window down said just do it.

    2. he has the right to not be harassed when he is acting within his rights.

    3. officer would not answer his simple question of detainment.

Actually it has everything to do with your chosen profession. You are a public servant, not a public ass hat.

If the officer would have just answer the kids questions.... goes both ways in my opinion. Its the LEOs job to inform him what is going on.
