    No, it isn't. It's a theory.

It is no more verified by the reality that evolution has played some part in a species progression.

Easy to say, utterly impossible to do in any convincing manner.

Actually, you probably wouldn't. The cost to benefit ratio to your way of thinking would doubtless prove too great. Neither would virtually any other truly staunch religionist no matter their stripe..

That illustrates how very marginally most understand the scientific method. Science, rightly applied, seeks above all not to arrive at some statement of "fact" that may not be challenged. Instead it seeks to challenge every proposed theory in an effort to expose its weaknesses and move incrementally forward.

Science, rightly applied, is a tough messy task requiring really thick skin and absolute dogged determination, often in the face of religiously held beliefs that decry even the attempt to arrive at a fact based understanding of natural processes, in order to move forward. The absolute mountain of hard data that's available is growing daily and will be sifted, added to and examined for decades to come. In that sifting, sorting and proving process impossible to avoid conclusions already well established by the data stream itself will either grow increasingly certain or will be expanded to include new insights not yet reached.

Just a bunch of old crap
Just because a book from a long time ago says it, doesn't make it true. Hell, the world's scholars can't even truly identify who the authors of the Book of Genesis even are (was it Moses? Did Moses plagiarize or rework the writings of Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Jacob? Was it from the burning bush?). How is it that those scriptures would then have any credibility? How do we know that Moses wasn't on shrooms and thought he saw a burning bush speaking to him as the voice of God? No way to know for sure.

You can stop praying for me now. Save it for someone else.

I find it funny that the petition included such evolution-related fields as mathematics, statistics, and computer science. I guess we are all scientists... Not that it cchanges anything, it was phooey to begin with.

Ok. Just to make perfectly clear the contrast between each of our views:

In my view, the billions of miles of genetic code contained within my own body is physical proof of a highly sophisticated intelligent design which is light years more advanced than anything mankind has ever designed.

And in your view, the billions of miles of genetic code contained within your own body is only dumb blind stupid mindless chaotic random chance.

Now which one of these two views acknowledges the nature of physical reality and which one denies it?

Please indicate your choice so as to clearly affirm your view.

I actually think " dumb blind mindless " catagorizes those that believe the Bible as a literal word for word book of human history

My view would be my view. Just as others are able to respect that you have your own point of view without calling you stupid, you should do the same. That shows exactly what we are talking about. You love to call yourselves sensitive and loving but that is the true viewpoint, you think everyone that doesnt agree with you is stupid. Very humble of you

I believe things began much more simply and have evolved through natural selection and some chance to become much more complex. I think it did this over billions of years. I do not think it was influenced by any entity. I would be more willing to believe Aliens played a part before I was willing to believe in a single God. I think life improved upon itself because I believe that's just what life does.

I also think in ancient times all across the world people looked for answers. When an earthquake happened, or a tornado, a flood etc. they didn't have any scientific means to explain why. So, they assumed some sort of an extra terrestrial, god like, role must be angry. That is why before christianity was around religion in some sort was all over the globe and very different wherever you happened to be. Whether it was native americans in N. America, S. America, African tribes or ancient Greece and Egypt. In my neck of the woods you can learn about Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams, and why Mt. St. Helens blew "her" top. This was passed down oral tradition and in a sense the local native populations religion.

I think early Christianity stole ideas about a fear based religion from several of these sources and incorporated them all together into a book. As I've said before the old testament is fear and loyalty based. As people began to ask more questions and understand things fear didn't work as well. So, they needed a new .. stronger .. message and invented Jesus Christ. And the new testament brings you a story about love and compassion because fear was no longer working.

    http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa1.htm

Ive attended and studied Nazarene churches, Mormon churches, Baptists and Catholic. What I have found throughout all of them is what you just displayed. Judgmental, ignorance and closed mindedness. Which is ironic because it is exactly the opposite of what the new testament teaches.

If the church finaly came out and said "ok guys, we were lying the hole time just to control you and take your money",
People would still be in denial.
