I was paraphrasing Glueman - damaged DNA due to replication errors/degrades:

I do, however, look forward to the prospect of living forever - as the Bible foretells:D

yes i deleted that post because it wasn't what i was trying to say. it came out wrong. have you not said something that u later regretted saying?? or didn't come across the way u meant it to??

and there is nothing wrong with the post u quoted i stand behind what i said in that post. i believe in the bible and what it truly teaches... and that goes along with loveing all types of people no matter what kind of race, religious back round, non religious backround, sexual orientation ect. and this is what i believe to have love for every kind of individual.

i dont dislike any of these forum members talking about evolution. or hate them or think they are stupid for having there opinion. or believing what they choose to believe opinions are like ass holes everybody has one!!

But after 350,000 - 600,000 years, why are we only living 70-80 years (on average)? Surely after that many years of evolution (and tremendous medical advances which are responsible for much of that life expectancy change), a simple doubling of life expectancy is far too small. If we can go from non living building blocks in a few billion years to all the different life forms on earth today (not to mention the extinct ones), surely a minor (let's say 1.2%) change in DNA to extend our life significantly is not too much to ask. Is it?

Not a bit. Think of being able to master playing not just one musical instrument but all the instruments in an orchestra. Taking time to study every kind off insect/reptile/mammal/fish/amphibian etc. Developing methods to visit the planets in our solar system, galaxy and then the universe. Aeons of learning and actually using the other 99% of our brains that the average person never uses in a lifetime. Bored? Never.

a 1.2% shift in DNA is huge over 600k years. Also, length of life is much more complex than good DNA. To have another doubleing of life would require adaptation to a world full of stuff we make that causes cancer, and adaptation to new foods, and to new germs that have us all beat in speed of mutation.

Who's to say that immortality is the best option for the advancement of the species , maybe a refreshing of the sample group is more healthy

    Less inbreeding , no ?

Except we'd have to find another place to live as the world isn't large enough for trillions of people and all of the food required.

Why is life expectancy supposed to be more than double over time? Say if we did live upto 300 would that suffice for one to now believe in evolution? I would say not, to the majority of creationists...no matter what some just aren't open to a non bible belief....

OK, so 1.2% is now "huge" when it comes to a life expectancy change, but negligible when it comes to the difference between man and ape?

The idea that we came from "apes" is wrong and often the source of lots of bad science. Apes and Human are cousins. So from the split with chimp and gorilla some 7 million years ago we have moved only 1.2% from each, but we fall in the middle of the two. so yeah 1.2% is huge

I think you are missing my point. Where is the undirected evolutionary improvement in that time frame that is the hallmark of evolutionary thought?

Lets just call a spade a spade and replace your use of "secularist" with "Non-Christian" or even your specific version of Christianity. It's awful pretentious of you to assume the religious affiliation of everyone on here who doesn't agree with young-earth-creation.

Humans don't have Undirected Evolution. Since the first grunt we have been in charge of us. The idea that something else (god) is directing is doesn't give credit where credit is due
