    No it fits the cross member w or w/out the oem y pipe.. also the very front lip does NOT roll up like most fab models ive seen so it WILL fit w or w/out an aftermarket plate bumper

    So there is some square tubing, or other material, that holds the plate down from the exhaust?

    Hmmm all I have is a pic of it when I was checking my fitment... jus tacked together and no wings..

    What's your opinion of carrying the skids further back then the transmission? Is it really that necessary?

    For myself.. yes, what little extra weight it is to go the extra 23"s absolutely. But it all depends on what u plan to do w yer truck...

    To clarify. I mean protecting the transfer case, just beyond the y-pipe.

    I thought about covering the y pipe but it seemed like alot jus to be able to brace it up... the tcase is up high enough for my liking and the small factory skid on it seemed to be stout enough to glance anything off that might reach that high, also if yer on somn that might do damage to the tcase, u prob have bigger problems to worry about!! Lol, but I could always come up w somn to cover it... I do have a few ideas, but ideally id much rather jus move the y pipe, not sure why they made it the lowest point on the truck???:eek:

    Yeah - I've had similar thoughts on this as you.
    There are Tcase skids out there. Some require re-routing the y-pipe, some don't. Either the trans & Tcase skids are dropped down an inch for a smooth transition. Or they are held up tight and a box is fabbed around the y-pipe. I think I am inclined to not worry about it at this point.

    Did you sell that skid yet, that you posted on the 1st?

    x2. The Y-Pipe is still exposed, but I plan on having a local exhaust shop (or maybe Walt :cool:) fab-up a custom y-pipe at some point in the future (I hate the stock one). It has taken a few hits on the lowest point, but is still structurally sound.

    I agree with Tallon - the T-Case is pretty well protected and out of the way as-is. If you go over a boulder/obstacle large enough to reach that high, you would really have to work at it and expect there to be damage to more than just the T-Case (driveshaft, exhaust, rear diff. etc.). On the plus side though, since it bolts to the factory cross-member bolts you WOULD be able to bolt-in a 2nd skid for the T-Case if needed, it would just need to be tied into the frame also.

    I will be looking into building a simple gas-tank skid, and rear diff. skid next :boink:<---Tallon

    I've been looking into buying a rear diff skid. Right now using my spare tire as an emergency rear diff skid :p If you guys get that one figured out before I pull the trigger, I'll be first in line.

    It's all Tallon man...he's got the Mad SkillZ!!! He taught me a crash-course in welding, let me run some beads and use some fun tools...but made sure to stop me before I fucked-up anything :p

    He and his dad are both great guys, and it's been awesome to work in their shop to learn some basic welding/fab skills.

    Personally, I would go bolt-on. People love bolt-on, and with the design I was thinking of, an extra flange could be extended to cover the rear u-joint and partial prop shaft (of course allowing enough room for angle changes etc.), and it would also be easier to service the rear when needed.

    Weld-on would no doubt be solid, but if you want max. coverage, you might sacrifice servicability (if that's even a word).

    ...and no problem man, I gotta brown-nose a little bit so you'll help with more projects :cool:
