    anyone putting a clear coat after their other coats of black? Wondering if this will make it glossy....just want a final layer of protection to prevent chipping. thoughts??

    This looks schweet... I'm curious can you leave all the masking on until it's dry? I currently have my bumpers and grille dipped and when I did them I was afraid the dip would dry over the tape and it would all try to come off when I peel the tape off. Can you get a clean edge after it is dry? I basically sprayed one thick coat and then peeled all the masking quick before it dried. It came out looking fine but it's kinda hectic spraying then peeling really fast

    You did it right. You can put on a first coat that is still somewhat light without peeling the tape. Your heavier coat will cover the tape and if you don't peel while it's wet, you edges will be curled over and not have a sharp definition. That's if the derp doesn't outright peel in jagged strips from pulling the tape after it's dry.

    I VERY CAREFULLY used a razor blade to score the edge and it has worked great numerous times. Just have to use extreme caution go slow and just score it. I had to do this when I created some derp eyelids. Had to have about 7 coats so the light wouldn't shine through.

    Like stated, you did it right. When you do the bumper/grille just leave a 1/2 inch gap and you can let it dry. If you try and make a clean line and let it dry it will just all peel up and/or rip.

    Just out of curiosity how do you deal with the inevitable over spray? I plan on just taking off the handles to avoid that but I've heard people just spray it on the car.

    If it lands on paint w/e just clay bar but if it lands on plastic wouldn't it be a massive PITA?

    you could tape it off... or soak a paper or MF towel in goo-gone, and apply to the plasti dip. let it sit for 5-10 mins. re-apply as necessary and keep it wet.
    be very careful not to get it on other plasti-dip items you do not want to remove, as if you accidentally touch it, it may peel (found this out the hard way)
    start at a corner and begin peeling. it should come off much easier than before.
    wash off the excess goo-gone and your done [​IMG]


    btw if you do have some overspray on your car, googone will get rid of it in 2 seconds

    Thanks for the advice man.

    I would mask it all off but I tried to mask off my headlights when I wet sanded them and the wax I used made the tape just slide right off :mad:. It stuck to my unwaxed front bumper but not the fender... The door handles seem super easy to take off too. Just have to do 2 too so meh
