Just because we haven't evolved to live longer IS NOT proof of any kind that evolution doesn't exist. Absence of evidence is not proof any any case

I get your point of view but when you say it comes down to context what you really mean is "your" interpretation of what it says and what it means.

I liken the bible (or any other religious text) to this: When you were a small child you used to play a game in school where the teacher would sit the entire class in a circle and tell the student next to her a word. That student would repeat the word to the next student and so on until it made it back to the teacher. Once it made it back to the teacher the word was NEVER the same word that she started out with. That is breaking down religious texts to it's lowest example that I can but it is also the strongest example that I can give. You have a book that was written by man (supposedly inspired by god) so you can only imagine the artistic license taken by the people that wrote it.

It wasn't until 325 AD that Christianity actually took some form of shape at the first meeting of the Council of Nicea. Cliff note version: They basically decided upon the divinity of Christ. Until then it (along with other issues) was still widely disagreed upon. Man decided the divinity of Christ. Not the other way around.

There are bugs that have been around longer than humans that still live a matter of hours to days - life expectancy is not a "goal" of evolution. Making that species thrive and be successful is, and I dont think you can argue we have done very well with that.

If you want to look at recent human examples of it- look at how we have been able to cope with diseases in the past 300 years. Diseases of the past the wiped out entire colonies are now virtually non-existent. One could also look at average height increases over the past few hundred years. - And dont ask why we are not all 10Feet tall by now - that is just stupid.

There's STILL disagreement about Christs divinity, the council of Nicea was there to standardize, solidify doctrine, and develop Christianity into a solid, faithful to scripture organization that could all agree on common points.
And no, context is not how I interpreted it, it's how the hundreds of scholars who know the ancient languages did. Things in the bible are written for certain groups and certain timelines, the Old Testament is an old covenant that no longer binds us since the coming of Jesus and the New Testament. So yeah, it's easy for people to go 'well look at Levitical law, you guys are crazy' but we aren't bound to Levitical law any longer. So that's out of context.

How exactly did he make himself "real" to you? I'm interested in knowing what I'm missing out on so I can keep my eyes open for it.

Exactly. Here's an example... Mayflies live for 24 hours... just long enough to find a mate and breed and maybe fly around and sightsee, then they die. However, the mayfly is a very successful insect regardless of its lifespan.

Here is another idea that you cannot prove or disprove, but you can see how an open mind is open to other ideas. Is it not possible that some people need him to be revealed more than others? That some people may need his help more than others? Would he not help those people first? Maybe he revealed himself to you because you needed it more than us. Did you know some people can be happy on their own, or are you so arrogant that you think your way is the only way to be happy too? It is wonderful that you are now happier than you have ever been, and whatever did that for you is good, but some people already have that joy. Same thing goes for being moral, maybe some do not need religion to know what is right and wrong, and maybe some are so far off track he needed to reveal himself. Maybe if my life turns into a train wreck he might feel the need to put himself on a piece of toast for me

Haven't been keeping up the past few days really but just thought of share this: a gal in our church is undergoing a heavy dosage of chemo therapy because of cancer in her lymphnodes and pancreas. She broke her arm a week ago and they were going to put a rod in there since the chemo pretty much cancels out any new growth that would have normally occurred. They did a final X-ray for mapping purposes and whaddya know? No more broken arm, the bone had totally regrown. The miraculous is Gods fingerprint.

We have evolved into such an imaginative species that we can create unjustifiable concepts such as religion to make ourselves feel better about what science cannot yet explain.

Case closed. Mods, please lock thread.

So it isn't even possible that her body was actually strong enough, even with chemo treatments, to regrow bone and have that break fuse back together just like nearly every other human bone does? Chemo has varying success on every single person, including how harsh it is on the body and how well it can treat even the most common of treatable cancers. There are exceptions to every rule, and it doesn't mean that God intervened.

So how about the people that all the sudden go in for a sore shoulder, and they find out they have terminal cancer and they die in a week. The miraculous is Gods fingerprint??

Although I highly doubt its completely healed, it may have solidified more than they have thought making the surgery unnecessary. People react differently to meds.

Also hospitals , at least in Cali, get reimbursed about 8cents on the dollar for every dollar they spend doing surgeries and what not. If the patient is showing signs of improvement on her own, it is a waste of money at this point. might as well see what her arm will do. its always an option later on ;)

No no no, her arm is not broken any longer. There's no need for surgery because there is no broken bone.
