Creationism vs. Evolution

dude Props for surviving and making it through a difficult period, i truly commend you... however, these are not miracles they are reality. These things happen everyday around the world to people... people who believe in and not, your god or another... we all have to walk it off and move on... its the way of life...

 

I'm a believer now!!!! I've lost my faith in evolution!!!

You can believe whatever you want, but what I believe, and what scripture teaches, is that it's people who accept that Jesus died and rose again so that we could live, get into heaven.

If that rules you out, I'm sorry for that, truly. I didn't make the rules, but I do choose to follow them.

That was my first thought as well honestly, I don't pretend to know Gods plan for her life, but all I can do is continue to pray for a complete and full recovery. So that's what I'm doing.

If he has a plan for her life does your prayer affect it at all? If so then its not a plan. If not then what does prayer do?

 

Nothing. I'll give an example:

My mother used to be part owner of a Chrysler Dealership in the Northern part of the state. She would have to leave on Mon. morning and come home on Fri. evening. If I were to pray for her to have a safe trip and she made it safely then my prayer was answered no? But... If she were to die in a horrific car accident on the way home then my prayer wasn't answered or.... It was all just part of "Gods" plan. So yeah you're right... Prayer does nothing. God already knew that he was going to kill her on the way home and my prayer did nothing.

It only makes the person praying feel better about themselves and that's about it as far as I can tell.

Name one person that you know conclusively has made it into heaven for any reason. And not just because a book says they did, or because a clergyman said it would happen.

 

This is a fun one, and for this we go to exodus. Moses is pleading with god to spare his people from destruction (that they deserved by the law of that time) and god does indeed relent.

Prayer can change Gods mind.

Now you can get into predestination and control from this, but we are free moral agents. How that interacts with God being all powerful and all knowing I have no idea. That makes no logical sense that we could be free to do whatever and yet God already knows what we're going to do.

But prayer does indeed work. Scripture tells us that all over.

So you're asking me to look past all my own information and sources to make a decision based on speculation? Do I have that right? I haven't asked you to do that, so it's hardly fair.

That would be interesting if there were any historical record of the existence of Moses outside of the bible. Since there isn't that argument doesn't really hold any weight.

 

Prayer can change God's mind in your eyes, but in my eyes Moses and his people had some good fortune and their safe passage could have just as easily been some close calls and coincidental good luck. I don't believe that the Red Sea actually parted like we see it in the cartoons, but rather there was a dry spell that made parts of it into more of a "shortcut". Plagues happen all the time around the world, so it could be possible to have a sequence of plagues in a row as the story describes. Each one easily describable by science.
