Oh yeah, I forgot this post. I truly don't understand how people can take parts of the bible and say those are literal, true passages but then take other parts and say those are figurative? The bible as we know it today covers a time span of hundreds of years, with who knows how many changes and edits and cuts etc. how do you know what is "true" and what isn't?

Do you believe ancient Norse artifacts? Mayan? They are old. Must be correct. Love the logic.

Once again pinnacle of arrogance. I posted the actual webster definition of arrogance and it spot on "an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions"

Because I've seen evidence of it, in my own life, and in others. I know what life was like without it and I'd never go back to that place. Having someone all the time who continually loves, and builds me up, helps me do things I couldn't otherwise, is reason enough. Forget the fact that I owe Him everything.

In my mind, He created me. He created the world I live in, and He the died so that I could live eternally. Someone, a real person, literally died for me. I'm forever in His debt, but paying it back is not a chore, it's a reward. God doesn't promise us tomorrow, so everyday I wake up I'm reminded that its a gift that I even get to experience this life. Get to play with my daughter and enjoy my wife and our home. THEN once I'm done enjoying all that I get to enjoy a far greater dosage of reality in Heaven for eternity.

You're dedicated I'll give you that.

Saying that... What quantifiable "evidence" have you "seen"?

Well see that's where you and I butt heads, because tumors, cancer, broken bones don't seem to count in your eyes. For me that's evidence of the reality AND the divinity of God. The countless prayers I've had answered, the times when I simply needed comfort and received it from 'nowhere'.

I'm not trying to butt heads with you. I don't discount your belief (although you and I believe different things). I'll defend your right to believe what you want till the day I die.

That said... I used to get comfort form smoking weed a long time ago but I didn't worship it...

Oh wait... never mind... I did

Why not an earthquake that was followed by a tsunami right after the Jews got out of the seabed? It's possible. Or, if the Egyptian army was days behind and was way out in the middle of the dry seabed and the rains came. Flash flooding.

Strikes don't mean outs. In the same at-bat, the next pitch was a homer.

And I was put through the entire bible 3 full times during my stint in 9 years of Catholic school. Not to mention all of the individual segments we revisited during daily Religion class. Not also to mention the additional education about the bible during my work with the priesthood and my many years of service as an altar boy. I even worked all of my church's 9pm Novenas and a few other clandestine all-Latin services in the church. Don't question my time spent in the King James bible (yes, the hard one).

How am I being arrogant by questioning whether evolution is understood? How many times in this thread has somebody said " I don't believe we came from monkeys?" When I see somebody say this I'm not presuming or assuming they don't understand evolution, I know they don't understand it based on their written statement.

Ok, tell me this, if evolution is a made up thing, why does Mrsa exist? It's a bacteria that has become resistant to most types of antibiotics, so how did that happen?

If you can understand and answer that question correctly you have just confirmed a belief in evolution.

Germs are a GREAT example of evolution. They give us a chance to see thousands of generations of reproduction in a very short period of time and witness the abundance of mutations in genetic coding leading to new strains of diseases. The common cold isn't so common because it's constantly evolving to survive the dangers of immune systems of its hosts. A million miniscule mutations occur during all of that reproduction, and just one of those new variations happens to be resilient to human immunity and that strain then thrives until our immunity catches up to it next season. Survival of the fittest in its simplest form.

Dispute that with another theory, please.
