Need a little help deciding on options

Like I said... if he's ordering it from the factory, it's a 2014, and pricing won't even be out for another 2 months.

That's why it's bullshit for him to require a deposit. If you don't buy it, he's got 90 days to sell a brand new 2014 before his holdback runs out, and another 6 months to sell it before people start looking for the new '15s.

 

I had to leave a $1000 deposit and 4 weeks later got the exact truck I ordered

Ya when u order it takes a few months why don't u ask him to do a dealer trade see if there is a truck around the surrounding states that has the options etc u want? It may cost a little more because they have to travel to get it but u will get it sooner

 

They want a deposits to secure your business not to scam u, if they give it back once the truck hits the lot how is it a scam? They just don't want u buying from a different dealer and to make all that work a waste of time

You just need to be sure and get it on paper that u will get the security deposits back on any condition, I've had people order a car and put a deposits down it hits the lot and the color isn't what they expected and they got there money back I'm sure there are some dealers that will hold the deposits against u but how hard is it to get an agreement on paper?

Getting an agreement on paper that would be legally binding? That can be pretty tough.

the 4 years i have been doing car sales no one has gotten away without leaving a deposit(no offense rich you must drive a hard Bargain lol) , it just secures the customers business so they don't order this vehicle and the guy doesn't show or he is just bullshiting them. i mean if you were selling a product and skmeone said hey i want one make it for me, you are going to want cash down,credit card number etc so you don't do that work for nothing. I think it's fine but I would look into the dealer trade I'm sure there is a truck like u want close by they can trade for

First off - I love this forum - its addictive and you get a lot of good info before and after you buy your truck. It's what pointed me towards mine.

With that said, I wont recommend you on trans - that is a personal/situtional decision. I love driving a manual but knew I regret either so I went with a easier solution to my city driving. If it was a second vehicle different situation......

sport vs off road - both will be good on or off the pavement. Dont let the bells and whistles fool you. Unless you really need them, they are just fun to have either way.

The SR5 is a great truck. The TRD seats I would pay more attention to the second time around vs the SR5. TRD have nice seats but is it worth it?

Whatever you choose - you will be happy with it and these trucks are so mod friendly that down the road you can make it what you want with whatever base you choose.

And the way he worded it was that depending on when i order it will determine either 1 month or 2 ? So if I put my deposit down Friday that will be July 12th would that give you an idea tyfighter? Is there a certain production schedule they have our somthing

 

I can't be of any help on this matter. I ordered mine through Toyota directly. I only picked it up from the dealer. My payments are taken out from my paychecks directly and no deposit was required clearly.

 

it depends some dealers will put the order in at the end of each month when there allocation comes through others can order any vehicle any day of the week just depends on the dealership thats something you will have to ask him where im at now if someone special orders we order it that day and it usually takes about 2 months to get it.

 

I put $1000 down to hold a truck that was coming in on the next months inventory because it was the exact truck I was looking for, TRD Sport BCLB in black with navigation and JBL speakers. I couldn't find the truck at any other dealer in the state of Florida so it was worth it to me. It actually showed up a week quicker than it was suppose to.

Aslo FYI. The invoice price on the navigation and jbl speakers was around $1600 with the dealer knocking it up to around $2000 on the sticker.
If you go on edmunds.com and look up the TMV it will give you invoice pricing on all your options.

Alright so I went in the other day to talk to him he said dealer trade isn't and option because there is no dealer in Oregon or Washington that have the truck I want with the options. so I was going to put my deposit down to order one but he said the factory isn't producing '13s anymore and they won't start producing 2014's until early September but I can put a deposit in mid august when they get details about price changes and any subtle change they decide to do to the '14s . So probably looking at late September until I actually get my hands on it. But that's fine I would rather get exactly what I want. Also told him I would like to go manual tranny instead of auto.

 

what is the exact truck you want? there is a huge toyota dealer where i live in north idaho i bet they have it.
