I'd rather be able to say I've committed 100% already and not feel the need to chew food at night. This is a HUGE step for me already to accomplish what I've done and to stick with it beyond 2 days. The gut wrenching I was having earlier today has been there for a few days now...that (eh-hrm) gassy movement / odd tightening feeling (TMI sorry). I think my results are more sacrificed with the fact that I'm using store-bought juice instead of going whole veggies. But I'm doing a mix of Bolthouse and boosting that with fresh veggies/fruit.

I don't really have what feels like a film on just my tongue. I did read that one of the "side effects" of juicing was "veggie breath"...I don't know how else to describe it - it's like there's still juice in my mouth, even when drinking water and chewing gum.

I've lost more weight this week than I have in the last 8+ years. I was at 194.4 when I started. That's the most I've weighed in my whole life (including when I was 9mo pregnant). That's disgusting to me and I'd be plum tickled pink to drop 50lb when it's all said and done (and to do it at age 40!). The craziest part of this is that I don't crave my favorite foods at all. Am I dying for a steak? No. Do I wish I had some red velvet cake? No. Do I want Five Guys? Not today.

This is already been a great boost for me...I'm just going to sit back and enjoy reaping the benefits of it all. I've had co-workers ask me how long I'm going to do this, and my answer is simple: however long I feel like it. I don't have a set deadline to stop this, I don't have a "I'm doing this for 15 days" outlook on it. I'm letting the open-endedness of it lead me wherever I go.

Thanks Ost for starting this up. I didn't look into it until you mentioned it. I really appreciate all your info, encouragement, discussion, etc on it. Let me know how that juicer works out for ya...may get one before too long.

A buddy of mine started a juice regiment this week, and I told him a little of what I read from your posts. Tonight I sent him a link to one of your posts here and it turns out he was motivated in part by your posts on another forum I don't frequent. Small world.

So for what it's worth, you're definitely inspiring people.

what have you read that is negative about the brevill brand of juicers? for what your wife spent at walmart you could have ordered one from Amazon with a book of recipes too.

Are you juicing those fruits and veggies or eating them whole?

That's awesome. If I can do it anyone can do it. Is he on COAR15?

I haven't heard anything negative about them but they're quite a bit more expensive.

As close to juicing as I can get with a magic bullet...still have pulp of course tho, but what I concoct is no thicker than the Naked/Bolthouse/etc blended juices.

Magic bullet isn't the same. It's a small blender and nothing like a juicer. I really think this is why you're having so many issues. You just need to go 100% juice and you're digestive system will thank you. Blending things or using a magic bullet isn't juicing and when you put things in your body that aren't juice it means you're basically teasing your digestive system every now and then which is what's keeping it working w/o actual food to process. Based on what I read before I started you do not want to blend anything, chew anything or eat anything at all unless it's juice or water. Not only will doing this lessen the effect of the diet but it will make it harder on yourself since you're keeping the system running and not giving it anything to process. I'm not trying to tell you what to do but based on the things you've reported I think you would see better results and be happier long-term if you stuck to this important guideline.

FYI, here's a quote I found from a quick search but I've seen this repeated numerous times on all the juice fast forums I read:

"Q. Can I use a Blender on a Juice Fast?

    A. NO! You need to use a juicer as a juicer will separate the fibers from the juices whereas a blender will not. It’s important while on the fast to eliminate the fibers and pulp from your diet. This allows your digestive system to rest allowing it to absorb nutrients and phytonutrients without having to use energy to digest all those fibers. There’s not much difference in using a blender and just simply eating the veggies."

Yeah I know, but wanted to do what I could before investing in a juicer. At this point whether it's true juicing or not, it's still way the hell more healthier than what I was eating before, and I am still seeing results. I really don't feel like I'm having much issue at all, and really nothing more than what I've read as possible "side effects". Appreciate the concern & coaching. :)

im going to buy the breville 200 this weekend at bed bath and beyond. its only 99 dollars and bbb always has coupons for 20% off. Im going to do a fast on all fresh juiced, except lunch where it will be a few hours out. Im curious about how many oz of juice you drink a day/per serving. At one point i was well over 300, got to where i was as big as you but hit a wall at 271 and yoyo'ed for the past month between 280 and somewhere below while exercising and eating less than 1400 calories.

Nice! Anything positive is smart. Walking away is a good judge of character, especially if you were ahead at the time.
