Plain metal key hidden somewhere on the truck, or use one of those hitch safe things.

Chipped key hidden inside in case you do need to start the truck. Hell Toyota gives you 3 of them.

Buy a plastic float box for your keys, wallet and cell phone, put your valet key in a hide a key box.

Greatest car thief job: Quick Oil change technician. Get to see under a ton of cars legitimately every day, many of which will have visible hide-a-key's on the frame somewhere. If it's a nice car, they note the customers address and bye bye car at some time in the future.

I have used the hide-a-keys before, but you have to be really clever when hiding them, or just be resolved that IF someone is determined to take your car, they will.

Stash a chipped key inside the truck and have the dealership make you a credit card key to keep in your wallet for unlocking the door.

I think the chipped keys have to be in the key hole or within 1 inch of the key hole for the chip to work.

So If the chipped key is in back seat and you try to start with nonchipped key it will not start?

Someone should try this. I did not get a nonchipped key with my 12.

2013s only come with 2. No valet key. I insisted that the dealer make a 3rd key when I bought mine. I keep the extra in my duffle bag that I carry when I go hunting, czmpjng, or fishing.

As I stated above, mine would only start with the transponder key in the ignition tumber, held right beside the plain key didn't work when I tried it. This was on my '06. Thus stashing a transponder key inside the truck is a very viable option, unless the new models are different.

I went to Home Depot and had 6 keys made. 1 in apartment, 1 in the truck hidden, 1 outside the truck hidden, my dad has the rest for spares. It was $1.07 per key

I have no grey key for my 2010 and have had additional keys made with just a regular key. You don't program new keys into the truck's computer, you program the keys to match what the computer is looking for.
