For an inspection I agree - who cares? But for service I agree with the others. As mentioned above I work in claims. In a previous job with a different employer we insured a local division with stores in upstate NY - I can't tell you how many engines we paid for because the moron working at the store failed to notice that the old gasket was still stuck to the engine block when he screwed on the new filter and gasket. 20 miles later the engine would seize because all of the oil leaked out. And the customer ended up eating a good chunk of the job because legally the store owed them actual cash value on the old engine, not replacement cost.

Hey guys I have a question I need some help on. So I have a 98 4wd and I need to replace the front left cv axle. I've searched other threads to avoid resurrecting an old topic but couldn't find anything. The boot has been torn for a bit and I've already waited too long in replacing it. I though about just a replacement boot but I've decided that this is just more of a "band-aid" fix and I don't want the axle completely seizing up and likely causing more damage. So I looked into it and I was surprised to find that a replacement axle from auto zone was only around $65. Is this a good axle though? I do have a 2" leveling spacer with 32's and I do moderate off-roading. I want something durable but I am newly wed, in college and on a tight budget. Suggestions? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Go with NAPA ($59 iirc). They seemed to have the better design as for close to stock. Or if you wanna replace to OEM go with CVJ (OEM rebuild). You have to send them your OEMs buy the rebuild is $85 iirc. Most after markets you will have an issue with the inners breaking. OEMs have a really strong inner tripod joint and stub. If it is just reboot then I say go CVJ and stay OEM.

After driving a Corolla for several years I was ready to get back into a truck and made my first Tacoma purchase last month. Now I am looking to make some personal touches. TRD Offroad- 4 Door Black 2013

Not sure what I want to do with it yet. I drive both highway and offroad, so I am thinking that I want to keep it close to stock.

    Here is my wish list:
    1-OEM Roof Rack
2-Wheels- upgrade or paint stock wheels black?
    3-Tires- little bigger and meatier?
4- Lift- 3" - level front and minimal back
    5- Rails

    Recommendations? Deals?

I look forward to getting to know each of you. If any want to do a local Utah ride let me know and I would love to join in.

The nice thing about the Checker/Autozone ones are they are lifetime warranty. Rip a boot or anything else in the future and you shouldn't have to pay for it again. The only problem is that sometimes some of the pieces are bent a little and needs to be bent back. They're pretty easy to swap out once you get the hang of it.

Do what you want, but consider yourself warned. Jiffy Lube is not a smart choice for anything.

Oh no I was not saying for service just inspections.

Yeah I had a buddy come down from park city to have his oil changed at a jiffy lube. He was going back up to park city at summit park and the car was running bad he pulled over to check the dip stick and it was dry.

Thats the whole point. He was asking about where to get some questionable things passed for inspections. Not where to get an oil change.

Get your wheels powder coated with black 30% gloss. That is basically a matt finish.

Got all my lift parts in the mail yesterday! :woot:

I figure I give it a shot to see if there are a couple of local members that would be willing to help with the install. It'd probably be a great time to meet some of you in person before I move back home to Hawaii at the end of next month. Anyone down? :D

If not then no worries at all.

I'm in Ogden, but willing to drive as far as Salt Lake. I don't have any tools or experience/knowledge of working with these kinds of parts but very willing to learn and help out as much as I can.
