When the rear hits a bump it makes a loud click noise. I'm pretty sure it's the overload leaf hitting the other leaf. Making a metal on metal "pop". Is this normal? I have a 2010 access cab Trd.

Not sure about the rear but the front of mine was doing this after the king install, I torqued the LCA bolts (all 4 of them) to 88 ft. lbs and it went away. Not real sure what the click noise would be on the rear but I'd re-torque everything and see if it goes away.

Check to see if your leafs have some sort of proper cushion under them, or some sort of grease.

Additionally check and ensure all your suspension bolts are tight, U bolts, rear shock upper and bottom, and leaf spring bolts. Play in these would lead to clicking or popping in your suspension system as well.

need more info......... do u have a lift? If so, what size lift in the back, and what shocks?

u have the front swaybar still?

another thing I found the hard way u guys may wanna try for a FREE and simple process of elimination.

find that spot in the road where ur truck makes the noise...If its not a safe area to drive 30ish in, find another spot.

Then drive that line normally.........It should make the noise

then drive the SAME LINE while BARELY dragging the brakes. (try it a couple times)

If it still makes the sound, then move on to checking other things.
If it DOESNT make the noise, its just ur front pads flopping around a little which is......... sadly normal, but I think theres a special shim kit and newer springs or some crap, and a special grease toyota uses in key areas when doing the front pads.

just my experience in hunting down a clunk over bumps.

No sway bar when the noise was happening.

    try the brake suggestion.

    Its quick and free

I removed my swaybar and the clunk was still there.... I broke the weldnut in that process due to a raped ape installing it at some point. I was pissed because there was no turning back, and I quickly realized it was the pads shifting :(

atleast the articulation is better now, and the suspension acts better/independently

Stock Trd suspension. I'm positive it's the back. I've listens as my front wheels go over a bump. Say a uneven manhole cover. And it's quite. The back hits it and POP. I'll check and re torque all the bolts. And grease in between the leafs.

You know what. I recently had the spare put back on and haven't checked. It could be that.

Well the click/pop noise went away after I torqued the LCA bolts and that was on my previous Taco, I haven't run in to the issue on this taco.

When I had that it was the bolt that goes though the leaf pack and Ubolts getting loose.

    Revive an old thread.
I installed rough country 3-1/2 inch leaf springs in my 2016 Tacoma and I get a clicking sound in the rear and I cannot locate it. All bolts have been retorqued.
If I rock the the truck it’ll click a couple times and then it won’t click again until I move the truck, It’s almost like something is settling.

Also check your bed bolts, mine was making a very loud metal clicking sound going over bumps and sure enough the rear two were loose
