Comibg along nicely. Definately watch out for under fill. I don't remember what metal it was, but we did a job a couple of years ago that would crack from the slightest bit of under fill. Had to constantly shove wire into the puddle. I've also welded chromoly gun parts that would do that

I think he means welding thick to thin.

I like to set the machine up for the thicker of the two and focus the heat on the thick side.

Keeps gettin' better and better. Before you know it, you'll have to put your truck addiction on hold, because you'll develope a welding addiction and start stockpilling equipment. Trust me. I've got a bunch of shit I haven't used. Hell, I've got a weld positioner(pinwheel) that's worth $4kish, but haven't even used it. Next thing you know, you're gonna have to have an engine driven machine mounted ob an off road trailer so that you can do serious metal work on the trails. A suitcase will also be needed.

Yea I'm holding my torch in my left hand. I tried it right handed for a while but it just wasn't working out for me.

Each bead I lay, i'm learning something new and getting a little better. Practice practice practice i guess.

How's about a wrong handed knuckle sandwich, fucker?

From the welds above, looks like you're picking it up nicely Anthony! Only thing I'd say was a few welds on the angle iron were a bit high, I would have went on the base metal a little more. The heat signatures on the back tell it also, those are probably the ones where the blued area is smaller on the skid.

If you're interested in getting more into welding; TIG, ARC, etc. check out the Thermal Arc multiprocess machines. The 211i works awesome for my MIG projects and is even TIG capable with about a $300 torch/foot pedal setup. Comes with ARC leads in the box as well if you ever find yourself needing to ARC something. Its a 120/220 machine too, so finding power for it is pretty easy.
They cost around $1200, $1500 with the TIG setup so for what you get they're a steal. If you want more or less, they offer a 181i and 252i as well.
Miller now has a competing welder as well, the multimatic 200, but it costs a bit more than the ThermalArc's.

Anyone Have Any Input On Thermal Arc 211?

I Had Been About To Buy A Miller 211 But Then Found The Thermal Arc Which Does Mig/Tig/Stick. For Mig Alone The TA Had Better Numbers 210 @ 20% vs 150 @ 30%. I Know It's Lift Arc Tig With Manual Gas, But It Seems To Have Great Reviews And I Could Live With Those For $1500 Shipped. but Most Reviews Don't Talk About The Quality Of Tig, JustMig.

I know, right! I will when I get into some more precision parts... probably like UCA's and LT kits.

As for MIG, I prefer my TA's to the Millers hands down. The TA's just have a ton more adjustments when compared to Millers, and I like the way they feel when welding better than Millers. Probably because I can adjust so much.
    I've ran Miller 210, 211, 252, and 350P's FYI
