Well there is definitely a long wait right now. That's what happens when I'm not a full service shop, just an average dude with basic tools building a few things here and there in his garage. I've got a wicked busy day job and a family that's been neglected for months so yeah I won't be building more racks for a bit.

That being said, I have no problem with people building their own stuff. And I'm cool with giving people ideas too. I get most of my ideas from others. The only thing I've got a problem with is people who just flat out copy someone else's design. There have been a handful of people on here that have built things that are nearly identical to some of my stuff. By all means use ideas if they help, but please try to make stuff "your own" instead of just copying.

    Nothing directed at you personally.

To clarify for anyone else that doesn't understand where I'm coming from. If I was worried about people getting ideas from my designs, then I wouldn't post them for people to see. I have gathered tons and tons of ideas from others because they were willing to post pictures and descriptions. I'm trying to return the favor because I know there are a lot of people out there like me who enjoy building their own stuff. When I get ideas from anyone else, I might incorporate elements of whatever they have built but I make a point of building things a bit differently to make it "my own" and out of respect for the time and effort someone else made in designing something. I don't believe it is fair for me to capitalize on someone else's work by copying exactly what they have done. I would hope others feel the same way, especially when it involves a product being sold.

For example, I am surprised every time (and it happens more often than you'd think) that I get PM's from people asking for measured plans of my racks so they can build their own. Who are these people? Why on earth would I send out detailed measurements and material lists of something I am selling?

There are plenty of people on this board and others that have built similar things to mine and have asked me for suggestions and ideas. If you talk to any of them you will see that I try to be very helpful and offer suggestions to help them successfully complete a project.

Sounds reasonable to ask that of everyone regarding design. I looked at yours and think I want to try my own and yes, it would be built different as I'd like to incorporate some other ideas.

That said, if anyone wants to create a unique item such as this, and you do not want it copied, make sure you apply for a patent to protect your idea/design. That is where you might discover you are rejected because it's too close to an already-patented product. (Not saying yours is or isn't though)

Adam I wanted to show you the small modification I made to your bed rack. Welded some pieces on each side and then mounted a rotopax plate and mounted up my rotopax on each side of the bed rack.

well I had to sit them down lower so they would not interfere or come in contact with my RTT when it is mounted, so I needed to bring them out a little in order to clear the bed sides

Rotopax mounts look great! Nicely done.

For you guys waiting for racks. My back is finally cooperating and I can move a bit better. I've also been out of town for the past two weeks, but I'm back now and should be wrapping things up and have racks ready to ship next week.

These are so sweet. I will definitely get one in the future. I'm curious as to how much this blocks the view out of your rear view mirror if anybody happens to have any pictures of that.

This is incredible idea. Definitely interested in getting one. If I knew how to weld, I'd definitely pull some ideas from this and create my own version, but unfortunately that's not an expertise of mine.

I understand you said you're very busy with work and do all your building in spare time outside of family time. You mentioned you may be building orders again in the future if you get a more freed up. Any idea when you may be caught up or possibly taking new orders? Thanks man! And props to creating such a successful product design!

I'm all caught up on orders. Still won't be taking new ones for a bit. I'm spending the summer with family and hanging out. They've been waiting on me for far too long.

Loudpedal, your rack is ready to ship. I PM'd you the info I need. Get back to me soon buddy.
