Non Ethanol Gas?

I just wanted to bring this back up for a reason,

I recently found two stations in my city who sell Non-Ethanol gas,

I gave it a try and in my RC 4cyl it has made a great difference for me,
The fuel economy I have not tested yet but know for a fact I go farther than I did before and the best thin in my 5-spd manual when on the freeway holds hills where before a downshift was almost always required,

It's almost 4.00/Gallon though, :-(

 

I actually haul it in for my own personal use to use in my 4 vehicles plus my boat. I have to cross a state line to do it. I bring in 100 gallon at a time and it is usually around .20 to .30 cents a gallon more, but it is well worth it as I get around 10 to 15 percent better MPG and I do not have to worry about moisture collecting in the gas as with ethanol.

 

So is shell V power ethonol free? Since it's 91?

 

Pretty much the same as what I have experienced. A few years back I could get ethanol free gas near my house but not near work. Huge difference in mileage between the two and it was 87 to 87 octane. I also had to tear down and clean a brand new Edelbrock carb I bought last fall for my Capri because of ethanol. Stupid me didn't put the ethanol-specific stabilizer in it last November when I put it up for the winter. Come April the inside of the carb looked like the bottom of a pond! Disgusting stuff. However besides a few out of the way marinas and airports all I can get is ethanol gas now. Besides the mileage loss in my later model stuff it's never caused any issues.

 

Costco is one of those ethanol free locations, their 91 anyhow. Not sure about the lower grade but I've always preferred the way my truck runs on 91 and the improved mileage gets me to the weekend every time summer or winter.

are you sure? I notice a little better mpg with Costco 91. But even better with shell 91

 

I use both, mostly Costco because I gas up when I go shopping and it's cheaper there. Shell 91 on those occasionally when I don't see Costco, no difference in performance or mileage noticed between the two and I would imagine it would be very slight if there was any difference at all.

 

The Costco pumps read 10% ethonol though.

 

In So Cal there is no non-ethanol fuel available, or not anything local.
It sucks that the Feds are forcing up to RUIN our vehicles and recreational craft, and motorcycles.

Better when the warranty is void because big brother up'd the minimum to 15%. It's being pushed for now.

 

You can thank Repubs and Dems alike for ethanol, especially those like Grassley & Durbin from corn growing states. We have millions of bbls of crude under the ground, and we're using the food supply to make gas. They intend to eventually force E85 down our throats(or should I say down our intake valves), and it will be sooner than later.

 

I can say this,

After finding the ethanol free 87 octane I am loving my 5-spd RC,

It has some pep to it, Lol....

Just gotta get that headed now...

Is the V6 recommended to run 91?

In Texas the use ethanol to boost octane. You can find 87 without ethanol but not 89 or above.

I like to run regular with lucas fuel treatment every other tank. Since i started using lucas i noticed cleaner exhaust tip and less oil in my catch can.
