My "maintenance Required" light is on when I start up the truck along with the rest of the lights on the dash. My concern is that its the last light to stop flashing after all the others....Is this normal?
What say you...2nd gen double cab owners?
How long does your "MAINT REQD" light flash for after you start yout truck?

typically, when it flashes an extra five or six times(from my experience) its usually just about the time for an oil change. you could usually go another 500 miles or so withouth damaging anything. just my guess.

Brakes are pretty easy i would say just do it yourself. Take your time and dont strip anything!

    Tomorrow afternoon?

Yeah sounds like its just time for an oil change. When was your last one?

The dealership supposedly did it a week ago or so. Maybe they over filled it?
I remember parking it at my lady's the night I drove it home and the next morning there was a small pool of oil on the ground under it. When I checked the oil level everything seemed good. I'm puzzled and can't afford to be throwing money around while the Stealership troubleshoots. I really don't want to take it back to Thousand Oaks Toyota because they are absolutely horrible to deal with. Is anyone willing to take a quick look at it for me?
That or do you have any recommendations?

If you got it from the dealership that recently and its leaking oil AND has the Maintanence. Req light on, i would def take it back. Certified used truck, so they should fix it up free of charge!

I hate dealing with those clowns. Let this be a lesson to eveyone, never, and I mean Never, deal with Thousand Oaks Toyota!

I understand, I just wanted someone local who knows about Double Cabs to have a quick look so I know what I'm up against.

So I've heard, seem to be getting mixed reviews on doing them yourself as it tests ones patience haha

I would greatly appreciate that and just might have to take you up on that offer. When's the new shop gonna be openin it's doors to jaeger, fat chicks, and of course a little bit of fabrication and wrenchin haha  you getting a place here in Simi?

I think I will do them but just want someone to help out and be there so I can be sure it's done correctly! Don't want to be driving and my brakes let out.. Bad news that would be!

On a side note, had a nice little road trip and picked up a whole slew of goodies for the truck!!

Anthony, how do I get that thing turned off then? A diagnostic tool possibly?
I'm going to have a look at oil pan to see if they forgot to use the aluminum washer on the drain plug, if the stripped the drain plug, or something along those lines. They supposedly did a valve adjustment before I picked it up so, maybe the valve cover gasket is leaking or something. :notsure:

If anyone feels inclined to have a quick look, feel free let me know..

Press n hold your odometer reset button and turn the truck on. Holding it a few seconds should turn it off. Some model years it needs to be on "trip a".

What is so hard about brakes? All you are doing is getting the air out of the line. One guy pushes on the pedal while the other opens the bleeder. Repeat till air is gone. Hell it aint rocket science. New shop/garage is gonna be in oxnard. Plenty of fat mexican bitches out there for errrrybody

It's not bleeding brakes. It's getting them to thread together.
Maybe it's just me, but I've never had an easy time with brake lines

haha christ man brake lines really aren't hard at all... your just swapping, filling, and bleeding... maint 101 man. if your going to limit your lift just cause you dont want to swap brake lines, your probably going to have a bad time.
chris is right, it's tricky but by no means a huge burden. just wear some gloves haha
