I have an 07 and absolutely love it! the jbl's sound great but doesn't crank loud enough and hit hard enough for me so I will be upgrading! that but go with any year you like with the specs that suit you, trust me you wont be let down with any decision you make with a nice Tacoma!

    I've owned '05, '09, and '13.

I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt, that '13 is the worst.

Everything feels cheaper, and thinner, and put together with less care. They cut some corners with the new one, and it's only gonna get worse.

    Thank you for the input.

Good to know--thank you. Be interesting to see if others agree. Sounds like I may be going "used" then!

I heard someone say that also in another thread I posted in a while back. I always kinda want to sit in someones 05-09 and get a feel for how different the interior is aside from appearance.

The one thing I hate on my 2013 is the dash. That black, powdery feeling dash coat just gets loaded with scuff marks like no ones business. I remember day one off the lot I hooked up my GPS when I still had the window suction mount and my GPS scuffed the hell out of the dash and I freaked out. It wipes right off with a damp rag but its a bit ridiculous.

Otherwise I have no issues with interior. My dads 2004 Taco catches scuffs and scratches everywhere else all the same as my 2013.

I've got a massive list of gripes that I never had with previous years. Every time I drive it I feel like it's time to look for an alternative, but then I realize that there isn't one.

I mean, what other mid size truck is even remotely worth buying?

Toyota has that segment of the market dominated, but not because they're just so awesome, but because the competition just sucks so hard. So hard...

I hear ya--no motivation to improve if there's no competition. Is there a particular year you liked most?

I don't recall any difference going from '05 to '09, but the '13 is a disappointment in a lot of ways.

Even so, it's still the best mid size truck out there, by a huge margin.

Well you've certainly owned more than I have. I had a 2004, that was my only other Toyota experience. This 2013 is 10 times the truck the 04 was, but I suppose I'm not the best to say. All I know is I am happy as a clam with my 2013, it feels great, drives great, off-roads great... it's an awesome rig.

1st gen and 2nd gen are two different animals.

I also had a '98. Not a single complaint about that truck, but it doesn't really compare to any 2nd gen.
