Some people just suck! A jug head backed into my 7 day old, 2007 tacoma today!!! Put a nice dent into the side wall....Plus he had no INSURANCE!!!! WHAT THE F____!!!!

    Just Venting...

This is where the forum comes in......hopefully

Does anyone have any leads on companies that sell painted sidewalls for the 2007 Tacoma? Mine is a short bed and is Grey. I found a sidewall at Tacoma world.com, but I don't think they paint them. I have seen other sites that sell fenders that are already painted...you just need to give them the color code from the truck and they will match it up. I can't find one for sidewalls though....

Plus...has anyone replaced one before...from what I can tell, they look pretty much like bolt on with no welds...this is one good thing about the new composite boxes...

    Any help would be appreciated!!

Back to the story, this kid had no insurance for the past four months! Now, instead of paying $400 for six months of insurance on his Saturn...He owes me the price of the fix, had his car impounded, has four tickets with court appearances, and will have major trouble getting insurance in the future...

    Why don't people think!!

He also can face up to one year in jail for this...but I called a cop body and asked them not to arrest him....I figured he was going to have a bad enough time dealing with all the other sh--. Plus, I am hoping to get the cash from him within the next day or two so I don't need to claim this on my insurance...$$$$$$$$$

you don't have uninsured motorist? you don't have to pay anything if you do.

don't feel bad. someone just hit my silver tacoma on the pass. side, near the the rear bumper today in the home depot parking lot while i was working in the store. i am so pissed. its not even 3 months old. i can only imagine how you feel with your truck only 7 days old.

just not a good day for silver tacomas

Not necessarily. Here in SC, the deductible is $200. I know this because an illegal alien hit my truck in September.

^I know the drunk illegal who hit me did. He was arrested on the spot. The ACLU probably had him out by the next day, though.

^SC is getting there, like the 2nd or 3rd highest illegal population. Crazy, huh? I'm also from a Peoples Republic; NJ in my case.

Sorry to get off topic there, surftodd. When you say "sidewall", are you talking about the (out) side of the bed? I would say to just go ahead and try a local used parts yard. You might even find something painted your color already.

BTW, I WOULD consider calling your insurance. There's no guarantee this kid will pay and it could be costly. It shouldn't count against you since it isn't your fault, anyway.

Mine took a rear hit as well. I thought I would have to pay my deduct. since it was hit and run, but it was only 200 bones. Okay...now can anyone tell me why a reputable repair shop cant put a damn rear bumper on straight??

Good question. When you find the answer, send the info on to the body shop that did mine.

I actually had to pay the $500 deductible at first while the insurance company screwed around trying to figure out who's "at fault", as though that somehow mattered in my situation. They held on to my money for 3 months until I called and complained. They then sent $300 back, which they shouldn't have collected in the first place. Stupid.

UM is for medical not collision. Your collision ins. will fix the car but with deductible.
I know this because in 1992 my wifes 1988 Celica got totaled by a UM. UNINSURED MEXICAN.

Depends on your state, here in CA you get a CDW (collision deductable waiver) included in your UM to prevent the insured from sustaining any financial loss with regard to property (you don't have to pay anything). Lots of body shops will give you a break if you pay cash so they can keep it off the books, bad if they do a shitty job good if they do a good job.

    Good Luck!

Sorry to disappoint, but the guy is not an illegal....even though they are driving all over the place here on Long Island uninsured..

This guy is some Caucasian hippie wonderer with no concept of responsibility.. Told me that he would have the $ today..but as many guessed, he did not. Told me he was excited that he landed a job...who gives a rats ass... Its about time! Just give me my money!!

The side wall is AKA the rear quarter panel AKA side of the pickup bed...

I have a $500 deductible on my insurance plus what ever increase in premium that I might receive from this claim in the following years ... It Sucks...

I will try that "wrecker" idea first though...maybe I will get lucky

Anyone know if Toyota used the same metallic gray for 2005-2007?

As stated, that is not necessarily true. UM is for ALL damage to your vehicle, as in my case where I only ended up having to pay the $200 UM deductible.

Your insurance won't necessarily increase unless you're in a no-fault state. Mine has not after two idiots have run into me (both accidents their faults).
