Jerry if it's too hot at the Japanese Festival, I'm gonna come your way. Last year a few people got heat stroke and I was almost one of them.

    That's my excuse.

I am working it the whole week before and I can work it the days after.

Anyone know how to take out the factory antenna wiring? I snapped my antenna off so I have to go in thru the fender and take it out.

I'll have to go look at mine to be sure, but isn't is just a lock nut on the bottom or the top you have to loosen and slide it out?

    *nevermind, not that easy*

It looks like the antenna cable is hardwired to the mast and goes to the all the way to the radio.

Didn't yours look something like this? Did you just want to get the broken antenna stud out?

Yeah I could never figure out how to get the damn thing off the fender and ended up cutting the cable trying to get the fender off when I was putting on my glass. I did end up tracing it back into the cab where the cable has a connection in the A-piller area so you at least don't have to run the cable all the way through the dash to the stereo. I haven't gone to the dealer to find out what the part number would be for that section of cable to the antenna mast.

Well, looking at my 2012 (with tow package), there could be a whole lot more involved to remove the entire antenna base (fender at a minimum but probably more with everything in the way. It looks like it has a lower retaining part that is down under the fender in between the firewall near the passenger door that I couldn't even look at.

You couldn't get the fender off by removing that chrome nut (visible in the picture I used)? I thought removing that allowed you to take off that plastic base and separate that part from the fender?

Either way, if he just wants to replace the actual antenna part, get a left hand bit (easy out) that is small enough to grab the broken part and not screw up the threads.

I was hoping that it would have, but I didn't have anything that was able to take it off without crushing and stripping the nut, so I got impatient and cut the wire so I could get the fender off the truck.:annoyed:

I would defiantly suggest trying to get the nut off first to at least see if that will get the part off the fender to work with it better.

I tried drilling it out with an extractor but just made the hole worse:/ so I have to go through the Fender and unscrew that silver part to let everything drop on down. And like liltaco said, It comes apart before it gets to the head unit.
