Should I have bought a Frontier instead?

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Tacoma, but I never really gave anything else a chance! I fell in love with my Tacoma and bought it on the spot! I just noticed though, I could have bought a Frontier for the same price, or a little less, and it would've had all the same stuff my Tacoma has+ more, like real leather, sunroof, automatic headlights, back up camera (which my Tacoma has) but the Nissan has back up alert.I hope I made the right decision, I always second guess myself, just hoping everyone can tell me it was without a doubt the right decision! Toyota reliability was a big deciding factor, but is Toyota really THAT much more reliable then Nissan? Thanx for reading! Let me know what you think!

You could always replace the softex with katzkin leather and the Tacoma is a better truck

But why is it a better truck, what makes you say that?

Toyota outsells Nissan 2 to 1 and Nissan had transmission issues earlier on plus the Tacoma looks way better and gets better fuel economy

You're on a tacoma forum. You really think anyone's going to say you made the wrong choice?

My friends 08 frontier gets better MPG than my 09 tacoma. His has a little more pickup also. A huge difference between the two is resale value. Tacomas hold their value better than most trucks on the market. He traded his frontier in recently, comparing the blue book values on each truck with the same variables a tacoma is worth a couple thousand more easily. Plus his frontier was falling apart after 60,000 miles.

    From edmunds.com

Compact Truck: Toyota Tacoma, with an expected retained value of 57.3-percent of original cost. (And that percentage is the highest retained-value number of any vehicle in any category.) The Nissan Frontier and GMC Canyon are listed as Honorable Mentions.

Large Light Truck: Ford F-150, with an expected retained value of 48.6-percent of original cost. The Toyota Tundra and GMC Sierra are listed as Honorable Mentions.

Large Heavy Duty Truck: Ford Super Duty F-350, with an expected retained value of 48.4-percent of original cost. The GMC Sierra 2500 HD and Ram 2500 HD are listed as Honorable Mentions.

Edit: i guess the resale isn't just better than all trucks, but better than everything according to edmunds :)

    Honest truth here:
I never even test drove a Tacoma before I bought mine.

I had an FJ before and knew what I wanted so I did it.

    Zero regrets.

I didn't get a frontier because I don't like Nissans designs all around. Except gtr. But inside they're all the same.

I personally find the frontier to be ugly, and there's a serious lacking of aftermarket support compared to the tacoma. And who wants leather its hot in the summer and cold in the winter

Leather hurts. I got into a leather seated car a few days ago. I had pants and coveralls on and it still burned like hell

    Build thread coming soon!
    Tacoma better than Frontier because:
All 2nd gen tacos have the composite bed... which means the bed sides are bolted on. No multiple layers to trap dirt and rot over the wheels in 15 years...
Toyota kepps service parts active for way longer than anyone I can think of- one of the guys at my shop wrecked his '89 Supra (drifting of course) and every component was still available new
Tie down rails are standard, not optional like Frontier

^ Tie down rails and brackets are much nicer on the frontier IMO

Curious why it matters? You are stuck with a Tacoma now, and it would be silly to sell it. Enjoy the truck, after all you fell in love with it in the first place.

On a side note what is up with all the silly questions this past week?

I don't understand why people like leather. It gets damaged easily, is fuckin hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. Just not a selling point for me. And like others said, the aftermarket base for Tacoma's is huge.

That doesnt effect the percentages though

    Kelley blue book

1st Place, 2012 Toyota Tacoma Pickup Trucks
Kelley estimates that 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks will retain 64.0% of their value after the first three years and 49.0% of their value after five years.

2nd Place, 2012 Nissan Frontier Pickup Trucks
Kelley feels that 2012 Frontier trucks will retain 56.2% of their value after the first three years and 42.8% of their value after five years.

I like leather, because I'm in construction, cloth seats get dusty fast,if I bang my seats out It's like a smoke cloud!!! Leather is easier to clean and don't retain dust as bad.

It is a Toyota, of course you made the right decision.

Don't ask why, just accept and enjoy. Oh what a feeling!

Not to mention, i heard there is a awesome Internet forum for tacomas, not so much for frontiers. You should probably check that place out, probably enough reason alone to buy a tacoma over frontier.
